NYFW is a wrap and what a week it was. From Kanye’s opening show to Marc Jacobs closing we’ve been presented with an inspiring fresh fashion season. Current styles have been further explored as revolutionary new ideas made their way onto the NYC runway. See now buy now was the overall theme as clothes straight from the catwalk immediately went on sale. Some of the crisp trends even already experienced their streetstyle moment. We’re talking cinched waists, cut out shoulders, foldover skirts and summer-y pinstripes looking splendid on some of today’s streetwear stars. Next summer you can even leave the house in robe-like coats or dressed bikini tops. And of course spring is the time for florals and ruffles. Ultimate wardrobe classics like the white shirt and the kaki trench coat are being deconstructed and updated in tons of ways. Yellow will be the main color for summer. Cut-outs are cool and a sweater with an image of Elvies on it is even cooler. Oh and did you notice the focus on the sleeves has now led to sleeves getting their own slit? To sum things up before we jump ahead to London Fashion Week here’s a fingerlicking first trend selection for spring/summer. Items you want to get your hands on right after you’ve clicked through our gallery.

Personal style is all about what you love to wear. But if you’re looking to join in on some accessories trend, this blog post is a must read for you. We selected this season’s it accessories that will give your outfit a showstopping twist in the blink of an eye. Like a large pair of sunglasses decorated with pearls. Or that good old denim jeans given a Disney patch twist. Not too mention a waist belt, preferably with you name on it (like Anna wore). And of course there is the oversized emoji tee, the bomber jacket covered in patches and that highly decorated oversize Supreme jacket. Phone covers in odd shapes and sizes always do the trick (XL red lips anybody?). Why not wear Cinderella’s mice embroidered on you cute little handbag? Bandana’s around your neck (or around his head). Furry backpacks and pom poms all over. Perhaps you can even share some words of wisdom on your favorite waistcoat while you’re at it. Anything out of the ordinary will give you a head spinning streetstyle look. And for this summer patches, embroideries and written words are the key trend ingredients. Give it a go and express yourself and your style in every way possible. The summer is yours!

WOMENSWEAR SS2016: Bailamos!

The ruffled off shoulder top is without a doubt the fashion piece most worn by fashion professionals. Just have a glance at your Instagram and you know what’s up. A top that perfectly fits in with the bigger latina style trend of this summer. Ruffles and volants all over. In the mix with sexy legs, cropped tops and long lengths. The colors of choice? Shades of red, pink and orange; colors that communicate passion. ‘Cause that’s what a Latina is all about. She speaks from the heart when she dresses up in that red skirt en white Tee (Blugirl). When she rocks that bright orange bodycon dress (Balmain) it’s pure passion. Latina bonita. A sexy open heel, flower in the hair and she’s out for night. Duele El Corazon by Enrique on repeat, bailamos!

Would Don Draper go on holiday, this is what he’d wear, if it was up to us. The fifties shirt reinterpreted by the likes of Antonio Marras, Louis Vuitton and Dries van Noten. A touch of print, a splash of color and some shiny silks. Fully buttoned or not, this shirt is an absolute summer stunner. Worn with a little scarf (Louis Vuitton, Antonio Marras), a cute cap (Salvatore Ferragamo, Fendi), unicolored (Etro) or fully printed (Neil Barett). Just give it a try. Let’s go to Cuba!

Trend Report SS15: Barely Minimal

Less is more. Oh well, haven’t we heard that enough?! After seasons and seasons of that minimalistic approach to fashion isn’t it time to go bold with prints and color and accessorize to the max?! Not just yet, so it turns out. This summer once again designers are opting for simple and sober, even if those minimalistic appearances that once were, are barely there any more. Yep, in stead of super sterile and colorless we’re seeing some exciting changes. Coming months a fuchsia jumpsuit (Costume National) can, for instance, be minimal. Just as a pleated tangerine dress (Salvatore Ferragamo). Or a coral red suit (Peet Dullaert). It’s all a matter of styling (no distracting jewellery, accessories, hair or make-up) and ways to carry a garment (own it!). Yet that doesn’t mean minimal can’t be fun. Sure, you can add croc leather and leopard prints (Victoria Beckham). Of course a subtle waistbelt and chunky bracelet are allowed (Céline). Yes, bright yellow (Hermes) works fine too. Even a touch of metallic (Fendi) can make this trend work. Not to mention asymmetric fashion (Marni, Margiela, Valentino) can be simple as well. Cute little handbags and strappy heels are permitted, naturally. Hands in the pockets, oh yeah! Dressing according to the minimalistic trend just got a lot more interesting. Enjoy it (while it’s hot)!

Trend Report SS15: Romantic Goth

Goth styles have been coming and going season after season. No shocker! Yet, fashion may repeat itself, even the Goth trend gets a different twist every time. For spring/summer you can either choose for sporty or romantic, or a mix of both. Mesh fabrics (Balenciaga, DKNY, Versace) and sheerness (Costume National) go hand in hand with the Goth appearance. While femininity and sexiness (Dolce & Gabbana) make convincing all black attires too. It’s just a matter of styling and make-up whether you take it to the dark (and perhaps a little scary) side. Super smokey eyes (Tom Ford) bleached brows (Givenchy) or red eyeshadow (MaxMara) will do the Goth trick. Same goes for chokers (Versace) and crosses (Givenchy). But no need to follow the lead. This trend has had so many revivals any interpretation will do. Add your Nikes, if you feel like it. Or go for a seductive high heel instead. Health or glam; have it your way. The catwalk images below illustrate how it’s done. Goth it?

Trend Report SS2015: Connect the Dots

It seems not so long ago that the likes of Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney set a major trend with their black and white polka dot collections. Still, after a few seasons, the print is being re-introduced by the same Mr. Jacobs and some of his most talented colleagues. XL 3D polka dots at Junya Watanabe, detailed dots at Chanel and flamenco versions at Dolce & Gabbana. As Moschino, Westwood and House of Holland got extra playful. Marc by Marc Jacobs introduced his pastel shaded polka printed bra tops worn over blouses and T-shirts. Yet in classic black and white this print is at it’s best! Are we ready for a new fashion round of polka dot power?

Trend Report SS2015: Mismatch

June 7, 2015 by

No rhyme or reason at the runways of Dsquared, Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood. So it seems.. Their S/S outfits formed an polychrome mix of materials, colors and silhouettes. Fashion pieces purposely mismatched creating head turning ensembles. Perhaps a new way for designers like Rodarte, Marc Jacobs and Marni to achieve originality in a fashion world which repeats itself so often. Or an answer, possibly, to the sobriety and minimalism we’ve seen around for so long. Whatever the reason, streetstyle influencers are making it rhyme. Rocking busy printed shirts and eclectic skirts with outstanding sneakers, jaw dropping handbags and eye catching sunnies. No color too bright, no texture too structured, no silhouette too bold. More is more in this mismatch mania.
