From Dolce & Gabbana’s millennial filled multi diverse catwalk (Dutchie Negin made her runway debut) to Moschino’s toilet roll bag and and Francesco Risso debut collection at Marni. From Alessandro Michele’s XL gender blended Gucci runway show to Fendi’s folkloric creations and Donatella’s female power parade. From Miuccia Prada’s young and colorful designs to Thomas Maier’s ever so graceful numbers at Bottega Veneta (that final gown almost appeared liquid!) and Dakota Johnson’s straight off the runway Gucci gown at the Oscars. Milan Fashion Week was ever so vibrant and made us all look forward to upcoming seasons. The main message? This edition of fashion week Italian designers talked politics, optimism and sports. NYFW is a wrap and what a week it was. From Kanye’s opening show to Marc Jacobs closing we’ve been presented with an inspiring fresh fashion season. Current styles have been further explored as revolutionary new ideas made their way onto the NYC runway. See now buy now was the overall theme as clothes straight from the catwalk immediately went on sale. Some of the crisp trends even already experienced their streetstyle moment. We’re talking cinched waists, cut out shoulders, foldover skirts and summer-y pinstripes looking splendid on some of today’s streetwear stars. Next summer you can even leave the house in robe-like coats or dressed bikini tops. And of course spring is the time for florals and ruffles. Ultimate wardrobe classics like the white shirt and the kaki trench coat are being deconstructed and updated in tons of ways. Yellow will be the main color for summer. Cut-outs are cool and a sweater with an image of Elvies on it is even cooler. Oh and did you notice the focus on the sleeves has now led to sleeves getting their own slit? To sum things up before we jump ahead to London Fashion Week here’s a fingerlicking first trend selection for spring/summer. Items you want to get your hands on right after you’ve clicked through our gallery.

Marni Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear FW2016

How we love a Sunday Milan Fashion Week morning, starting our fashion filled day with Marni. Today the show got us in an extra good mood. One glance at it’s first look and we already knew; this is going to be a hit collection. Old Hollywood glam wrapped in a series of contemporary looks made us both feel nostalgic as well as super excited for next fashion season. Shape (round proportions), color and material (compact, stiff) in the ultimate mix; this was modern elegance at it’s best. High waisted pants were paired with old school V-neck sweaters. There were suede skirts worn with blouses that had XL sleeves and cuffs. Tweed pants were matched with sporty cropped jackets. All given the ultimate Marni touch by added Xl sequins, pockets, buttons, belts and double collars. Oh and let’s not forget about those earrings. Floral prints and checks worked beautifully with the warm color palette. A dress and a co-ord had touches of navy colored velvet swirly layering on them. As sparkly chunky embroideries gave the finale’s little black dress a splendid Marni make-over. All remarkable, original rich yet simplistic looks that turned out even stronger thanks to the 40s inspired make-up, Consuelo Castiglioni chose to accompany her designs. A classic Hollywood look of pale skin, intense brown colored lips and wavy hair given a mysterious contemporary twist.

Now how was your Sunday morning?

Fendi Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear FW2016

At Fendi ruffles, frills, and flounces represented waves (Einstein’s gravitational waves to be precise). They popped up on sleeves, yokes, collars, hems, boots and handbags. Midi dresses, a pair of babydoll shorts, 7/8 high waisted pants, an oversize quilted coat and patchwork midi skirts. Like you’d expect at Fendi the clothes existed of a fair amount of fur, mixed with velvet and satin. Classic rich materials to create contemporary looks. Luxury for the cool kids who have already added those wave inspired sunnies and frilled thigh high boots to their f/w obsessions. Light pastels worked beautifully with deeper shades. Especially in the case of a light blue cable knit paired with a high waisted emerald colored pair of pants. Sir Lagerfeld know how to make a wave or two.
