Graduation Collections AMFI 2018

It was a show filled with contradictions. From Els Veldman’s vibrant and extremely colorful collection (and her models with painted faces and colored hair) and Kelly Geurden’s completely yellow colored line up to the grungy and moody looks at Charlotte Bakkenes, Stefan Vella and Jamie Teunissen. Not to mention Ferry Schiffelers dramatic but truly showstopping collection of black 3D looks that immediately deserve a spot in SIA or Gaga’s wardrobes (same goes for Sophie Mellors’ stage worthy looks, wow!). From Juliet Kok’s simple and savag-y designs to Marlies Reukers professional and perfectly fitted sportswear looks. And from Myrna Reukers li la lingerie looks to Nikita Domping’s streetwise and tough denim creations. From perfect patchwork at Julie Evers to dreamy powder hues at Kim Domburg. This was yet another inspiring and entertaining AMFI graduation show. We’re curious to see where all these 22 fashion talents will eventually end up working, but we’re sure they all have amazing careers ahead of them. Thanks for an amazing show and the best of luck to ya!

Trend Report SS2018: Get Sporty

February 12, 2018 by

Let’s just hope this trend never gets out of fashion. ‘Cause do we ever really (want to) wear anything else besides trainers and hoodies? Luckily for SS2018 it’s still allowed to release the Sporty Spice within. Although that sporty style did get some updates too. Being a good sport when it comes to this trend means dressing both practically as well as feminine. So it’s all about tight bodies with high zippers and tulle skirts (Dior), tight leggings and cropped jackets (Tommy Hilfiger), loose fitting yet off shoulder zipped up jackets (Lacoste), hot pants and running jackets (Isabel Marant) and highly accessorized sporty suits (Gucci). And let’s not forget the suncaps, the beanies, the cross body bags and the gloves. Ready for a good game of extreme sports while showing of your best body parts. Fast fashion never looked this good.

We’ve discussed this trend before (here to be precise). But besides the full on red to toe catwalk looks from the likes of Dolce, Gucci and Chloé red has been THE color on the streets as well. And boy did it make for some awesome streetwear inspiration pics. Just glance through our gallery and see how the streetwear stars rocked their red hot puffer coats, maxi dresses, suits, sweaters and designer bags. Have you already indulged in some fancy red colored winter wear? It’s about time to paint this town red!

Fall/Winter Catwalk Trend 2017/2018: Skirt + (oversized) Sweater

October 30, 2017 by

Nothing says cosy autumn outfit more than a good skirt paired with an oversized sweater. Just ask the creatives at Victoria Beckham, Balenciaga and Dior. A combination so effortless you’d wanna throw it on every single day. Paired with boots, trainers or even a pair of shiny loafers. Skirts can be pleated, layered or tulle as long as those XL woolen/cashmere sweaters are super chunky. Long sleeves, high (turtle) necks. Oh and primary colors seem to be a theme here. So will your look be bright and yellow (MSMG), midnight blue (Dior) or red on (a different) red (Victoria Beckham). Just keep it classy and extremely cosy!

From Dolce & Gabbana’s millennial filled multi diverse catwalk (Dutchie Negin made her runway debut) to Moschino’s toilet roll bag and and Francesco Risso debut collection at Marni. From Alessandro Michele’s XL gender blended Gucci runway show to Fendi’s folkloric creations and Donatella’s female power parade. From Miuccia Prada’s young and colorful designs to Thomas Maier’s ever so graceful numbers at Bottega Veneta (that final gown almost appeared liquid!) and Dakota Johnson’s straight off the runway Gucci gown at the Oscars. Milan Fashion Week was ever so vibrant and made us all look forward to upcoming seasons. The main message? This edition of fashion week Italian designers talked politics, optimism and sports.
