Trend Report FW2013: Go Grunge

Thanks to fashion houses like Versace, Saint Laurent Paris and Givenchy we’re experiencing a major Punk & Grunge comeback in fashion. A trip back to the nineties when a careless look was all everyone wanted. Go rough with black leather motor jackets, fashion pieces that are torn apart and bring back the spikes. A black and red color palette is your best punk chic option and remember this look is viagra no rx not complete without a tartan shirt (best tied around the waist). As “long hair don’t care” seems to be the guys’ motto, it’s the girls’ hair that is getting much shorter (and either white/grey-ish or deep black). Touches of femininity are added through floral prints, sheer fabrics and sexy cut-outs. It’s going to be one of the most interesting trends this fall and besides lovers there sure will be haters, but we have a feeling the modern punk/grunge designers in our image gallery don’t really care…

Appearing from a marble staircase we met up with Marco Zanini’s girl for fall. A humble girl with a great sense of style. A natural beauty with not only a wonder wardrobe but great taste too. She gracefully matched a few over the knee skirts with quite stiff woolen tops and roomy coats. She pulled off a selection of oversize dresses with duo colored gloves to match. And she managed to look chic in a series of pleated New Look skirts combined with jackets and waist belts to accentuate her feminine figure. Even in her pj’s she seemed perfectly put together carrying her statement making rolled up leather bag. Her wardrobe’s warm winter shades (light blue, apricot and mallard green, baby pink and burgundy) looked ever so chic against her perfect pale skin. Zaninin’s girl isn’t trying too hard or following any trends. She is just being her fashionable self, rocking some of the finest Rochas investment pieces that will last longer than just one season.

Gianfranco Ferré Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear Fw2013

Federico Piaggi and Stefano Citron presented their collection in a new show venue this year. To the designers the Palazzo della Permanente not only was a new show area but a fresh start for the Gianfranco Ferré fashion house as well. Piaggi and Citron’s new beginnings did not necessarily mean a whole different signature though. They stayed true to their architectural, asymmetrical style. Done in a color palette of simple shades (nude, black, white, navy) the designers presented quite difficult fabric constructions. Dresses, kimono tops and smoking jackets all had a lot of folding, overlapping and layering going on. With accessories like croc obi belts and leather neck creations it was even hard to distinguish one piece from the other. Yet the designers sure managed to keep things interesting.

Aquilano & Rimondi Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear FW2013

What better way to portray Alice in Wonderland than by sending out a collection full of hearts and checks? Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi took the literal way of translating their theme for fall/winter 2013/2014. Their ‘Alices’ sporting high buns and bright blue eyeshadow in a series of forties inspired Wonderland pieces. Ultra feminine knee lenght skirts were paired with peplum tops that had cute puffy sleeves and statement shoulders. Heart shapes could be found on any top or bottom as sequined skirts and embroidered dresses were given a sparkly treatment. Even some of the menswear inspired pieces, like tweed jackets and a long woolen coat got the designer’s feminine touch by in the form of stitches, buttons and added waist belts. A color palette of emerald green, navy blue, red, gold black & white and metallics; a fairytale brought back to life.

Dan and Dean Caten took us back to the 1940s with a muscular Karmen Pedaru opening their menswear inspired show. Her hairy evening gown (which caused for a nipple slip to happen) was followed by line up of double breasted suits and high hats. Tight skirts, accentuated waists, fur details, chunky jewelry and rich colors really brought the forties back to life. Beautiful tailored coats and wide legged pants were some of the best pieces. Touches of metallic added that modern touch. Leave out the crazy hats and the rest of the excessively used accessories and you’ve got yourself a perfectly wearable jazz-inspired fall collection.

Prada Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear FW2013

Wet hair, bare shoulders, a subtle cleavage and cool sunnies; Prada’s girls, who appeared from a mysterious shadowy backdrop (with birds and a cat), looked quite sensual today. Yet at the same time their looks breathed old school glamour and raw elegance. The girls sported tweed dresses thrown over long sleeve tops, oversize bags, bold shoes and ladylike coats with accentuated waists and statement making dimpled fur cuffs. There were checks and stripes; continuing the current graphic trend.
Though given a modern twist the looks has a cinematic forties vibe. Deep winter shades were put in the mix with light pastels. No combination we would soon leave the house in, but after tonight it might just become our most favourite colour match.
And that is in fact Miuccia’s power; she can present new, unexpected, slightly off styles you would never come up with or even hate at first sight and turn them into the most desirable looks for the upcoming season within a few months. Right on time, before we start shopping for our new wardrobe.

Yet if a guy knows how to wear this latest fashion trend well, he’ll immediately jump to the top of this year’s best dressed list. It’s rather difficult, we have to admit. Just take some inspiration from Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Roberto Cavalli and Calvin Klein and see if you’re up for it.
