Marco Zannini called his ss2014 collection ‘The Glass Menagerie’, after a play by Tennessee Williams. It led to brilliant fabrics, and shiny clothes. Nearly everything had a glow, a buy generic viagra reflective treatment. Organza blouses with thermo-sealed crystals, a long dress in silver lace and ruffles that looked like they were sugar-glazed. The colors varied from vivid orange to blush to citron green.
Still, the silhouettes and vibe of the collection was elegant retro, with full midlength skirts, shirtdresses and tops paired with funny slippers trimmed with ostrich feathers.

Appearing from a marble staircase we met up with Marco Zanini’s girl for fall. A humble girl with a great sense of style. A natural beauty with not only a wonder wardrobe but great taste too. She gracefully matched a few over the knee skirts with quite stiff woolen tops and roomy coats. She pulled off a selection of oversize dresses with duo colored gloves to match. And she managed to look chic in a series of pleated New Look skirts combined with jackets and waist belts to accentuate her feminine figure. Even in her pj’s she seemed perfectly put together carrying her statement making rolled up leather bag. Her wardrobe’s warm winter shades (light blue, apricot and mallard green, baby pink and burgundy) looked ever so chic against her perfect pale skin. Zaninin’s girl isn’t trying too hard or following any trends. She is just being her fashionable self, rocking some of the finest Rochas investment pieces that will last longer than just one season.

A shimmery bra-and-brief look combined with a pair of wrestling shoes? At Rochas Marco Zanini proved he knows just how to combine quirky and chic. Dressed in beautifully tailored creations made from the finest fabrics his models appeared classy with a sporty touch.

Comfortable polo shirts with shorts and a wide legged pair of pants matched with a muscled mid rif revealing white top looked like tennis court material. Yet done in softly sparkling stretch brocade they were just a little too fancy.

Done in a gorgeous palette of whites, nudes and silver Zanini introduced over the knee pencil skirts and polo’s, slip dresses, full airy skirts and turtle necks, a maxi coat, a shirt dress and quite a few more cropped tops. He added some beach-y elegance in the shape of a chrysanthemum printed high waisted bikini, before changing into a darker mood.

A few looks in black and later in red included silk corset dresses, hoop skirts and a chic little twin set. A floor sweeping cape worn over a bikini was Zanini’s glamorous alternative to the old school pareo. Headbands worn as sun visors, with corsages at the back, round shaped sunnies, small belts one or two bags and those poppy red lips was all else this collection needed.

Rochas was chic, simple and sporty and according to Sophie Rochas the most beautiful collection of Zanini’s hand so far.

Busy seventies prints and warm winter shades were in the mix at Rochas. Inspired by the pottery of the Swedish ceramicist Wilhelm Kage designer Marco Zanini created outstanding winter looks, which, some say, balanced on the verge of becoming ugly yet stayed graceful and gorgeous.

A printed – green and off white – dress was matched with a sixties geometric printed coat in the same green and purple. A beautiful knit skirt and matching, belted sweater formed a great winter duo. A shiny pair of metallic pants and skirt looked like the finest PJ’s. And a mustard ribbed sweater matched with pants in another yellow shade looked odd, but cool.

It was the combination of cosy knits and metallic kaleidoscopic prints that made this collection unique. The warm shades (purple, bronze, ink blue, mustard yellow) that make us long for winter, even though we’re very looking forward to summertime.

Zanini maybe presented his looks in a scruffy way; in real life these midlength skirts, silk tops, jacquard pants and heeled sandals can be some serious showstoppers.

It was a sweet collection that Marco Zanini presented on the first day of Paris Fashion Week and which he described as ‘a journey through the vortex of cinema’.

His models had turned into elegant, chic women in fifties-inspired, pastelcolored (mint green, peony pink, ivory, lemon, kiwi, orange, blue) designs. Their outfits looked delicate, luxurious and original, made out of couture-like materials and new even some newly developed fabrics. All designs had their very own ‘sparkle’, whether it came from the shiny silk organza or the hand embroidered details.

A long shiny skirt with a grey knitted T-shirt appeared to be one of the youngest, most wearable looks. Shiny, almost see-through jackets looked exquisite combined with over the knee pencil skirts. And those bathing suits just breathed old skool glamour.

The styling made the show picture perfect with cat-eye glasses, organza kerchiefs covering big hair (fifties-style) and shoes varying from sky-high mules to soft suede sandals. This is how you do classy.

Rochas’ fall collection is Marco Zanini’s definition of chic. He reconnected with his Swedish roots with charming results. The outcome became a refresher course on fashion classics. There were the boxy kick-pleat skirts and Shetland wool sweaters, oversized coats in felted wool and swingy jackets, paired with leggings or capri pants. Elements of  tailoring were sprinkled throughout, including some  blazers with hefty shoulder pads. For night, Zanini took a  turn showing black brocade cocktail dresses with exposed zippers.

For his Spring Summer 2011 Collection for Rochas Marco Zanini was inspired by a recent trip to his mother’s country of origin Sweden. In the small town of Fjakelmyra he met local artist Slotts Barbro who is well-known for her traditional canvas prints and asked her to create some exclusive prints for Rochas.

To these typical Swedish prints poetic phrases of French writer Françoise Sagan were added as: “Les merveuilleux nuages” or “Dans un mois, dans un an..” on head scarves, skirts, dresses, and knitted cardigans.

Another eminent pattern, besides the Swedish folkloric print, was a peonies floral print from the early 20th century Bucol archive. Long silk satin slip dresses were washed, hung to dry without ironing to give them a vintage boudoir feel.

The color palette ranged from Indigo blue, mud brow, chartreuse yellow to grass green.

Zanini played with all different kinds of silk: silk satin for dresses and blouses, taffeta for flower printed full skirts, hand-punched silk shantung to give texture to a white full dress, lightweight woven raw silk with topstitched silk lining for loose jackets. The overall mood of the collection was romantic and a bit folkloric.
