So Amsterdam Fashion Week has a brand new director, Danie Bles. For the ones who don’t know her yet, Danie has been working in fashion all her life. She started out as a stylist (of the stars), then built her own brand (collaborating with and hosting events and shows for big commercial brands such as L’Oréal) and she has had her own fashion label ByDanie for several years.
Given the fact that Danie is so familiar with setting up events and organising fashion shows it comes as no surprise that she would hold her own fashion show during her very first Amsterdam Fashion Week. And so on Friday morning we attended the show by her personal styling service Maison365 (a styling service sending you a box with three looks based on your personal style).
Fifty fall looks styled by Danie and her team entered the runway. Looks of different boutique brands that are linked to Maison365. “With Maison365 we want to show how we work when it comes to unique and complete personal styling. Plus we offer smaller, ambitious brand a chance to be part of a big event like Amsterdam Fashion Week”, Bles stated.
She and her styling team inspired us with a variety of fall looks in three different categories; Paris, upcoming Scandinavian talent and the Seventies. A casual start of leather pants and oversized sweaters. Looks styled off with loafers and berets for that extra Parisian feeling. More urban were the oversized coats and parkas styled off with fanny packs and hoodies. And we ended up in the party section of Maison365. With sparkling tops and pleated skirts, sequined shiny pants and luxurious looking velvet and jacquard suits given an extra glam touch by headbands and shiny earpieces.
The overall message was clear: from day to night, desk to dancefloor Maison365 has got you covered.
What are you wearing during the fashionweeks? Your Off White-shoes, that Balenciaga-shirt or your latest Vetements-denim? Maybe we’ll spot you in Paris, Milan, New York or Amsterdam. During the fashionweeks we refresh our streetwear posts regularly. We don’t judge, we’re not the fashion-police, we just enjoy fashion and your own personal style. Next stop: Amsterdam Fashionweek, womenswear SS2019.
MBFWA january 2017 is a wrap! The last day was a mix of extreme hair, romance, streetvibes and bold prints thanks to the shows of Goldwell, Edwin Oudshoorn, Re-Construct and Liselore Frowijn.
Another day full of fashion at the third day of MBFWA january 2017. Two challenging experiences, some beautiful collections and a finale with a bang! at Spijkers&Spijkers.
SPIJKERS & SPIJKERS FASHIONWEEK AMSTERDAM PARTY FW17
Day 02 of MBFWA is a fact. One of the highlights were the shows of Tess van Zalinge and TRINHBECX. But we also enjoyed the shows of Schepers/Bosman, Alexandra Frida and Said Mahrouf.
Leave it up to Truus and Riet Spijkers to take care of our Saturday night entertainment. Once again they delighted us with yet another on point SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers collection. Discover Moon Tan, inspired by the moon and a trip to Shanghai the Arnhem based designers made earlier this year. Their muse: Ching Shih, a pirate and a princess of the Chinese Sea in the 18th century. Think: lots of color, graphic cuts and theme-inspired prints like an ikat pattern designed around Chinese landscapes and cube-like panters. Suits in large woolen tartan prints and lurex jacquards were followed by dresses made of extra soft crêpe de Chine, wool and satin. Even jeans and sweatshirts made their appearance. Finished off with XL mirror earrings, pendants, brooches, reflecting the catalk lights like the full moon. Creating ensembles both elegant and comfortable, suitable for both office and happy hours.
A Fools Paradise is wat designer Edwin Oudshoorn described his collection and the setting of his wonderful show at Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Nederland. No classic catwalk-event, but an improvised forest as a poetic decor. The title also referred to the restrictions striving for perfection causes. The result was a rich and elegant collection with lots of dramatic elements.
Passage is the name of Dorhout Mees’ seventh collection. A collection meant for vulnerable yet powerful women based on organic forms and contrasts in material, colors and prints. Inspiration for prints and accessories came from wood and bark. Esther Dorhout Mees also presented her fourth shoe-collection, this time inspired by pieces of wood and made by 3D-print-technique. Take a peek at this beautiful show.
Alexandra Vollebregt is the designer behind the women’s label Frida by Alexandra Frida. As a former graduate of ArtEZ Fashion Masters she’s specialized in textile design. Her line is a summer oriented ready to wear collection created for the young women, adventurous and with a free spirit. We thought this collection is perfect for a new season of music-festivals. Catch some atmosphere during the show at Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Nederland.
