An ode to Prince: stop and Stare

His signature looks became just as famous as his music. He worked those flared legs, cropped tops, wide cuffs and high collars like nobody else could. Adding some sheerness, some shimmer and some shine. From jumpsuits to disco suits, a hoodie here, a hat there. His outfits slightly dark yet full on glam and always unmistakable ‘Prince’. He inspired the fashion world and vice versa. Even for SS2016 we could feel Prince’s style throughout some of the collections. Outfits created even before the world was going to have to miss a legend, in terms of music ánd style. We picked some summer looks that Prince would be able to rock on stage. Touches of purple and brocade as seen at Dries van Noten. Some silky suits from Gucci’s collection. High collars and waistcoats as show by Louis Vuitton. And transparencies shown by the likes of Ann Demeulemeester, Givenchy and Costume National. To make sure everyone would stop and ‘Stare’…

Trend Report SS15: clean blue

To say that denim is one of the biggest and most comfortable trends this season feels like one of the dullest and most obvious statements we could tell you right now. Has denim ever been out of style? Has it ever been off the radar? Has it ever been disliked or neglected? Na-ah. And for some good reasons. Thanks to icons like James Dean and Marilyn Monroe we’re still excited -which is an understatement, as we wear it almost every day- to pull of this iconic piece of fabric in every possible way. But for coming season designers were determined to recast denim and put a slightly more clean and luxurious stamp on it; cropped indigo mini-jackets at Burberry, clean tailoring at Margiela and retro vibes at Stella McCartney. The options are countless, but if you’re a committed denim worshipper, it’s time to tighten your relationship with the real deal: No fading. No bleaching. No glam. Keep it as easy as can be. That’s already a huge statement by itself.

Trend Report SS15 menswear: Summer suits

Dear men. If you’re only breaking out your suit for office adventures or special occasions, you’re doing it wrong. This season we’re begging you to get out of those comfy jeans and lift your bum and well trained torso in some fine tailored suit. Because it’s no question whether it looks good on you, but which one suits you best. No one told you it has to be old-fashioned and dull. Forget about black and grey suits, spring is serving you new minimalism elevated with unexpected materials, colors and details. Make the blue suit your best compagnon, a dominant theme on the Dior Home runway and seen at Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Or take Miuccia Prada as an example who showed stiff denim trousers paired with denim jackets. And how refreshing was the playful layering, wearing a blazer over a denim jacket as seen at J.Crew and Fendi. This season, we’ve seen it all from khaki, to electric pink, to stripes, to cool turquoise, to geometric patterns and dots to shiny fabrics. Dress to impress seems to be the main message. How far are you willing to go?

We’ve been taking her picture season after season. With every look she wears she surprises us. Time to take a closer look at Miroslava Duma’s style.

This former Harper’s Bazaar editor is without a doubt one of our favorite streetstyle targets. Within one fashion week she’ll change her looks from sporty to couture and from quirky to classy and manages to always stay true to her own style.

Mira, as her friends call her, mixes Chloé with Chanel and Marni with Acne. She stays high on above the ground in stunning heels and eye catching wedges from Christian Louboutin to Alaïa. Almost every single one of her looks is finished off by a chunky necklace, of which Mira must own countless versions.

And if you thought Mira was just about pretty clothes, you’ve got it all wrong. Besides her amazing style and good looks this pint-sized fashionista has the brains too. She not only regularly collaborates with great fashion titles like Ok, Tatler and Glamour, but also founded her own fashion website called Buro 24/7, which is gaining more and more attention.

Take a look at her style and see why we are so fond of this Russian streetstyle sensation.

She is a former model, but Julia Sarr Jamois is best known for her personal style. As a fashion editor at Wonderland magazine she visits the international fashion weeks and is the prime target for streetstyle photogs.

Julia mixes remarkable, colorful fashion pieces with funky sunglasses. Combined with her original hairstyle she often creates an outstanding, almost cartoonesk appearance for herself. Julia sets trends, dares to experiment and always stays true to her own quirky style.

No wonder this half Senegalese half French beauty was named one of the 100 most stylish people by US Vogue and is a true hit on many streetstyle blogs like Jak & Jil, Style.com, The Sartorialist and, from now on, Tean Peter Stigter too!

Streetstyle it-girl: Susie Bubble

In 2006 she decided to let everyone in on her ‘fashion bubble’, she started her own blog and has become one of the most popular fashion bloggers ever since. Susie Bubble doesn’t miss any fashion week and is a hard to miss streetstyle personality.

Her outfits are as bubbly as her name suggests. There’s always a nice pop of color and funky sunnies and cool bags make her stand out from the crowd.

Her cool bangs and her friendly smile make this blogger one of our favorite streetstyle ‘projects’.

Trend Report SS2011: Baby Get Higher

Need a few extra inches? This season’s shoe trend will help you get a little higher. ‘Caus it’s all about wedges and platforms. And there’s only one rule: the thicker the sole, the better!

Go for some cork wedges and create a seventies style look or man up and opt for Prada’s layered brogues. The remarkable colored Prada layers were an instant hit and we definitely get why they’re so popular.

The best thing about this shoe trend? It’s super comfy! Due to the super thick soles you’ll get extra inches without extra pain. Let’s hope this trend stays around for a few seasons!

Trend Report SS2011: Style & Lace

Graceful, feminine and perfect for summer; lace is a big trend this season. Dolce & Gabbana was all about lace and is one of the most popular collections. Also Chanel and Louis Vuitton showed us they know how to work the lace into your look.

We kind of expected the lace at fashion houses like Alberta Ferretti, Oscar de la Renta and Marchesa. Yet at Issa, Erdem and McQueen it was more of a surprise. Especially since Erdem and Issa were all about color. Not the regular white and black, but purple, green and red lace.

So this season it’s not only underwear that is beautifully embroidered; dresses, pants, skirts and tops may be embellished too. And besides lace clothing fashion accessories like shoes or clutches work really well in this fabric too.

Just take some inspiration from our photo gallery and have fun with this summer trend!
