Regarding the round helmets, short A-line shifts and military buttons, Moschino went for Sixties Pop.  It started with graphic black-and-white worked in bold contrast on piped dresses and suits, cropped jackets, mini skirts and a little tank jumper.
There were jail-stripes and then, once color moved in with orange and blue, cabana stripes. The house’s signature hearts and flowers were also present.

Highly accessorized, lots of black and white and uniform inspired; that’s how you could describe the last couple of Moschino collections and today’s version was no exception.

Models wore double breasted jackets and short playful dresses. Looks came in black, white, red, yellow and blue, some stripes and checks added to the mix.

There was an awful lot of leg at sight for a winter collection.Yet Jardini (sort of) made up for that by placing hats and ostrich feather helmets on the models’ heads. Together with the chunky earrings, huge bows and multi-pocket hip bags they made up for the highly accessorized part of the brand’s signature.

It was a Moschino show like you would expect it to be. Though with the ski / motor pants, dropped waists, quilted coats and shiny capes we spotted some pleasant new season surprises as well.

This morning Rossela Jardini took us on a trip to the South of Spain where wowed us some with flamenco and matador influenced fashion. To the usual strong black and white looks, she added lots of embroideries (gold and colored), fringes, lace and golden coins.

Some models wore their hair in braids around their hat, others sported crazy hat pieces, like monteras, which gave the looks even more drama. The bold shiny jewelery and the golden shoes with multiple ankle straps were also hard to miss.

The silhouette was feminine; tight pants mixed with short jackets, ruffled dresses worn tight around the waist. Apart from a golden/yellow shade Jardini didn’t use any color for their fabrics, but we can’t say it made the collection boring. There were so many details in every look it was hard to check all of that out, before the following model would appear.

So when you’re going for the Espana-look, just slow down on the jewelery and accessories and you’ll look ‘elegante’ to the max. Olé!

Moschino Catwalk Fashion Show Milan FW2011/2012

Sexy militaries opened the Moschino show this morning. The Italian brand showed us a glamorous take on the uniform, which included lots of bling bling, eye catching accessories and very feminine tailored uniform jackets.

The models wore high military hats, sexy pointy glasses and model Coco Rocha appeared with a chicken on her head. We’re curious what was behind that look…

There were of course a lot of suits with pants that showed just a little bit of ankle. But we saw some super sexy dresses too. Not to mention the golden skirts and palazzo pants, which are now officially a trend, since we’ve seen them at many FWshows. We’re not sure they will look good on many women though.

Like the models walking the show, the colors of the collection were strong (navy, red, silver, black and gold). Towards the end of the show a heartprint was introduced, which matched the Moschino letters at the backdrop of the show.

It was a fun collection. A bit over the top -like always- but that’s what we know Moschino for, right?

Moschino Cheap and Chic Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2011

The Moschino Cheap and Chic fashion show was different than we expected. There were no seats so people were standing in front of the runway. Also there was loud music and pizza and prosecco was being served. So it felt more like being at a concert or a party than attending a fashion show.

But it set the right mood. We saw Anna dello Russo dancing like crazy and everyone else was enjoying themselves too. And as soon as the models appeared the crowd was smiling even more.

The joyful collection was an explosion of prints and color. Some outfits had more than six different bright colored prints on them. But still Rosella Jardini managed to avoid a clown-y look.

There were summer dresses, blouses and over the knee skirts. Airy silk skirts were matched with knitted sweaters and waist belts. Colors like turquoise, coral, lilac and orange were combined.

A T-shirt with a piece sign on it which read ‘Piece & Irony’ was worn with a pair of salmon pink pants. And a gorgeous lemon print could be seen on a skirt, a blouse and a sexy asymmetrical dress.

Bright red lips, colorul headbands, flower corsages, check-printed shoes and eye-catching necklaces brought even more joy to the collection. The blowing kisses-thing the models did was maybe a bit too much, but we sure had a fun night.

At Moschino every look that came down the runway was screaming for attention. Hats, turban scarves, golden jewellery, large sunglasses, bows worn with blouses, belts, shoes tied around the ankles and big bracelets. Not to mention the clothes itself, with their had eye-catching prints and golden embellishments. All items got Rosella Jardini’s full attention.

The show started off in the same style as last year. Models wore hats combined with scarves and white blouses with black bows. Yet soon the new prints came on; big red & white stripes, black & white Vichy checks, flowers and loads of large polka dots.

Some looks felt a bit navy-inspired, due to their colors and prints. A few double breasted jackets and nautical rings were in that style as well.

As in last collection their was a lot of gold. It was used to decorate some of the skirts and jackets and the jewellery (necklaces with tassel tips, chain belts, Lily of Florence earrings and big bracelets) was made from it. Yet the golden rings we saw on some jackets last season had made way for pearls this time. Big faux pearls, that is.

You can imagine it was hard for us to focus on this over the top collection. There were definitely some great elements, yet it was all a little too much.

So, if you’re planning on wearing some of the looks, try to keep it simple. Wearing one or two eye-catching items is just fine.

Catwalktrends ss2010: really tiny bags

Tiny bags definitely seem to be a trend on the runway. Yet they are very unpractical, because there aren’t many items that will fit in these bags.

But can we still call it a bag? Most versions we saw on the runway looked more like extraordinarily shaped purses, if you ask us.

The bags may be unpractical, yet they created some funny looks on the catwalk. Extremely tiny were the bags in the Anteprima, Blugirl, Bottega Veneta, Etro, DSquared, Fendi and Moschino fashion show. .

Most original were the Fendi bag with spikes, the pink bag form Gianfranco Ferré, the wooden ‘bag frame’ from Stella McCartney and the silk heart shaped bag from Moschino.

Unfortunately you’d have to keep most of these tiny bags in your hand all evening, but do they look cute!

Rosella Jardini opened her SS2010 show for Moschino with a short version of a Chanel-looking suit. This outfit was combined with black tights, golden shoes and earrings. The look was completed with a scarf on top of the model’s head, some bangles and a bag, all in the shape of a heart. With this first look the fashion was set for a diverse and mixed collection. There were puffy dresses and skirts with prints of hearts, flowers and cherries. A jacket was made of golden chains, held together by a black leather body. One model showed a black dress on which the lines of a surreal coat were stitched in white. There were some playful coats with bows and layering. The models wore gold accessories like belts decorated with tassels or necklaces with deep red cherries. To the end the clothes became even more mixed when prints were combined in several patchwork looks. Mix ‘n Match at Moshino… (Tess van Daelen)

The look of Moschino’s collection reminded us of that good old Fifties-style, with nerdy specs, hats, sleek suits and leather jackets from the early days of rock ‘n roll. Moschino used their famous newsprint on shirts and  inkspots as a splotchy pattern on a blouson, trench and jeans. The collection had a sense of humor and made us wish men would dress like this more often.
