We’ve enjoyed working with the Kingpins Amsterdam Team the past five years – it was a warm welcome in the crazy world of denim.

Trend Report SS2018: Kingsday

Kingsday is just around the corner. But before you start stacking up on ill-fitting orange T-shirts, shorts, cheap ass plastic caps, headbands and glasses, we’d like to give you a different idea on how to wear orange. You see, it doesn’t have to be bold and bright all over. As our favorite streetstyle stars have shown us recently just a jacket or coat can make enough of a color statement. And an all black outfit with a touch of tangerine works just as well. Want to celebrate the King’s birthday in the most subtle way? How about an orange colored pair of those arty ‘cat-eye’ glasses worn with a sharp looking on trend look. Queen Maxima will certainly approve. Chances are she is not even wearing orange the 27th.

Karim Adduchi Couture Fashion Show Amsterdam

Moroccan designer Karim Adduchi presented his new collection “She Has 99 Names” in de Duif in Amsterdam. In addition to Karim himself as an immigrant, he works with his collections together with Syrian, Russian and Eritrean laborers and artists, who recently found their home in Amsterdam. He specifically aimed at workers whose work you do not often encounter on the catwalk.
In “She Has 99 Names” Karim has given an oath to the women he had around when he lived in Imzouren as a child; the Berber village where he was born too. Adduchi shows these women in their distinctive complexity: beautiful and confused, happy and sad, furious and fragile.
Adduchi dives in the rich heritage of Morocco prior to each collection. He designs woolen fabrics, hand-woven by local laborers.
Even though Adduchi is not a political artist, he tries to map social problems with his art. Immigrants and refugees invite him to work with him in his collections. At first, these people were all unknown, but their shared passion for craftsmanship and design brought them together.

Kingpins Show Amsterdam October 2017

The international denim tradefair Kingpins Show has landed in Amsterdam and turned the Westerpark indigo blue. Tuesday the two days fair kicked off with a lecture program Transformers, Women in the Indigo Universe. Yesterday was filled with business, seminars, meetings and the afterparty was a nice closure of a busy day.
