Piotrek Panszczyk
Piotrek’s girls looked sophisticated and ready for a party. They wore his minimalistic design with grace. And even though high slits and cut up clothing parts revealed a lot of skin; they still looked elegant.

With strange helmet-like hats and on high platform shoes tony’s models worked his summer collection. The light shades (beige, off white, grey and blue) looked lovely together. Jackets with structured shoulders, a fringed dress and lots of draping made the collection stand out. Yet because it was such a small collection it didn’t make it very cohesive.
Outsider at AIFW SS2011, part 1
Photographer Nick Helderman is new to the world of fashion. He knows his way quite well in the music-scene, but is still an outsider to the wonderful, glamorous, intoxicating, exaggerated world of fashion. Peter Stigter invited his talented colleague to experience the Amsterdam International Fashion Week and try to capture his vision in images.
Nick Helderman lives in Amsterdam. He published in Het Parool, Glamcult and OOR. In 2010 he was nominated for the Popview/Lex van Rossen Award. You can look at his portfolio here

Pauline van Dongen and Etranger were the last two designers presenting their LAB collections on Thursday. Pauline’s collection Kinetic Landscapes was perfect. Her dresses had unexpected shapes, lovely details and came in beautiful shades like orange, blue, grey and black. For this collection Pauline was inspired by the powerful force of water and air that both can make big changes to different landscapes. The shoes in this collection were made by Anna Korshun and the jewelry was designed by Nathalie Tappin.

The new collection of designer Lifu Hsiao was inspired by an epic movie by David Lynch: ‘Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me’. Especially the styling and the themes of this movie inspired him to design some sexy flowy dresses and some cute babydoll versions. The shades, ranging from white to pastel and bright red all had a special shiny effect to them and were combined with sheer, black cape-like layers. Check out the gallery below.
Individuals Backstage at AIFW SS2012
The team went backstage at the Individuals show, the ‘commercial’ show of the Amfi. Make-up and hairteam worked hard to make the models look perfect and the clothes looked promising.

After we heard little bells ring, we saw two models appearing on the catwalk; the Individuals show had begun. The Individuals students presented their eleventh collection, named Nature’s Child Consummation Est.
It was a mix of two different worlds; freedom and destiny. Clothes, made from sustainable materials, felt masculine but still had a feminine silhouette. Jackets were long and tailored and lots of items had raw edges and unfinished details. Bright make-up and colorful belts gave the collection a playful twist.
The designers used leather (black and beige), linen and wool. For the wool, which gave the collection it’s luxury feeling, Individuals worked with Dormeuil and Woolmark. Not something you’d expect from a summer collection, but there were more than enough wearable items to choose from.
Winde Rienstra en Gomes Esser Design Backstage AIFW SS2012
The second part of the LAB-shows was filled by Winde Rienstra and Gomes Esser Design. The handcrafted designs – and especially her shoes – were a favorite of the audience, while the futuristic creations of designers Aleyda and Denise of Gomes Esser Design also got a lot of admirers. We also went backstage to capture the tension.

Winde Rienstra – 11:11
Winde Rienstra and Gomes Esser Design were next up at Amsterdam Fashion Week Lab. Winde really was the public’s favorite; everyone in the audience seemed blown away by her structured, handcrafted designs. Her designs were on the edge of clothes and objects and were not all very wearable, but sure painted a nice picture.
Gomes Esser Design – The perfection of imperfection
Designer Aleyda and Denise from Gomes Esser Design presented their work for the second time during AIFW. It showed their surrealistic and futuristic signature by combining lots of metal (jewelry and head pieces), leather and innovative solar panels.
There were male and female models and America’s Next Top Model participant Sara Longoria was one of them. She fiercely walked the show and is also the new face of Gomes Esser Design.
Roya Hesam & ZEM Backstage AIFW SS2012
Let’s take a look backstage at two LAB-shows that were held this morning in the Machinegebouw: Roya Hesam and ZEM, the menswear-label of Samira Algoe

M-PR is the official public relations-team of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week and therefore not to miss. Without this fashion & lifestyle press-office – located in Amsterdam – the pressroom would be a mess and things wouldn’t work that smooth. They are also the constant factor behind one of the AIFW-partners Bart Maussen.

Roya Hesam & ZEM – LAB Catwalk Fashion Shows SS2012
Thursday is one of the busiest days of the whole Fashion Week with a lot of LAB shows. We started off with ZEM and Roya Hesam, two upcoming designers, who both presented 10 looks.
ZEM – menswear
Designer Samira Algoe based her second AIFW- collection on classic beachwear for men. She used sun, see and beach as the inspiration for her clean and well tailored looks. Most items were made out of two parts (and two or more shades). The sheer silk cotton and the ultra-short pants appeared a little feminine, but overall the clothes felt pretty wearable. Sunny accessories were gave the collection a nice little extra.
Roya Hesam – womenswear
Roya showed her minimalistic but very feminine collection Facing Skills. She used airy fabrics and soft shades. Her dresses, jumpsuits and pants looked elegant and smooth, perfect for summer. There was a little boob flash here and there, but that didn’t spoiled the fun.
