Alexander Wang Catwalk Fashion Show NYC Womenswear FW2016

Alexander Wangs’s fall show was a trip back to the age of experimental adolescence: ignore outdated taboos and instead seek what’s off limits was his message.
But taboos are hard to find these days. So-called bad taste is a megatrend right now, coursing through fashion up from the street and down from the runways. Wang’s collection, with its mash-up of prim tweed suits and tank dresses subverted by hefty hardware and skimpy hemlines; delicate, sheer tulle tops disrupted with brash censor bars bearing words like “strict” and “tender” across the breasts; and pretty lace insets shaped like marijuana leaves on dresses, was more cute than vulgar. The pink corduroys that riffed on classic prep by replacing polo ponies with strippers on a pole were particularly on-the-nose.
The accessories were good, too, including an expansion on Wang’s recently launched jewelry collection with chain-link rhodium earrings and leather-and-rhodium chokers.

INKNI presented a classy collection menswear with a modern edge. Prints did the job and added a playful touch to the minimal style and classic garments. Besides black & white and grey, the colors varied from skintone to yellow and blue.
Kaho To’s collection Transdimensional was inspired by the movie ‘Under the Skin’, where aliens take over the human body. That theme gave the collection had a slightly dark undertone with prints of melting fluids, applications and morphing plastic. The use of orange, white and blue balanced the dark out as did the minimal design.
Monique Collignon Couture Light Amsterdam Fashion Week fall/winter 2016

Texts like ‘Slow Fashion’ and ‘From trash to treasure’ (once again seventy percent of the collection was produced by Waste2Wear®, fabrics made out of recycled plastic bottles) as well as giant images of the designer herself were pictured at Monique Collignon’s backdrop today. A nice message to spread during this fashion filled week while delivering yet another solid, feminine collection. To the tunes of ‘Show me love’, ‘I am every woman’ and ‘R.E.S.P.E.C.T.’ Monique Collignon sent out luxurious looking elegant ensembles. In a winter proof palette of purple, green, brown and navy her fierce models looked classy and fierce. A purple number with a green coat tossed around the models shoulders looked extremely desirable. As well as a beige and blue look topped off with a filt hat. From basic outfits to party looks extravaganza Monique Collignon will hook you up with the best slow fashion creations next winter.

While we can already smell spring’s maximalism in the air, we’re experiencing the final wave of minimalism. Less is more, so we never forget. How normcore, sober and serene ruled the fashion world for season after season. How all color seemed banned, as well as prints and chunky accessories. Max Mara, Victoria Beckham and Hugo Boss show us once more how cool keeping it clean can be. With a monochrome palette, some luxurious pieces of clothing and statement shoes/bags, that is. Nothing to distract you from the perfect modern, winter proof silhouette. Alright, perhaps a pair of the chunkiest earrings (Marni) and a big waistbelt (Fendi) then. After all it’s minimalism 7.0 we’re looking at.

Skater skirts, cashmere jumpers, perfect little blazers; Carven, Diesel, G-star and Dior are betting on some first class (literally) school girl looks this winter. Navy blue, crispy white, preppy like Hilfiger, Replay, Paul & Joe and Lacoste, yet given a little twist. Some shiny sequins and lace-up boots as seen at Giambattista Valli. Or skirt details in leather (Replay) and lace (Louis Vuitton). Becoming the teacher’s favorite just got a lot easier. Just don’t try too hard, give your look an effortless teenage touch and we bet you’ll be this year’s high school sweetheart!

Fully buttoned, worn wit a turtle neck; the female two piece doesn’t have to state the obvious sex appeal anymore. With the whole gender blending game going on even the misses can rock the ultimate tweed pants and jacket. Details like a high ponytail (Christian Dior), a red lip (Saint Laurent), an open shoe (Louis Vuitton) or small belt (Hermes) are enough to give her outfit it’s femininity. Checked (Paul & Joe), colored (Dior) or army inspired (Chloé) inspired by his wardrobe you’ll be amazed how strong of a look you can pull off. Just don’t be afraid to loose some of that in your face sexiness, have your pick from one of the above and suit yourself!

Fluffy jumpers, heavy coats, but underneath the lightest, most delicate pieces are hidden. Underwear is not outerwear this time of year, yet instead it’s all about the teasing game. Giving away just tiniest bit of those sexy sheer numbers. In black (see Ferretti), nude (as seen at Gucci) or bright colored (like at Balmain). There was the velvet-y lace at Givenchy and the abstract sheerness at Mugler. Transparent at the chest (more and more often worn without a bra) (Marc Jacobs) or just sheer sleeves (Carven). These designers show you how it’s done. Now who says you can’t wear lace in winter?
