Haider Ackermann Fashion Show Womenswear Paris SS2017

Haider Ackermann recently became Berluti’s new menswear designer, but that didn’t stop him from delivering a remarkable collection for his own brand today. His models – with spiky hair and yellow eye make-up – looked cool and collected in his fresh creations. Specificly in some purple metallic trousers and leopard printed blouse. Or in a lilac hoody matched with a white frilly skirt. Not to mention that green lures suit. All three wearable and youthful ensembles the cool kids would love to work. Some of the strapless tops, colourful maxi dresses and tight leather jackets looked promising too for next summer in the city. Yet it’s hard to picture those blood spatter outfits on a hot day in August. Other than that Ackermann didn’t seem to have let his new job distract him.

Roberto Cavalli Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Milan SS2017

Fashion might have made a big turn from normcore to maximalism over the last few seasons, the Roberto Cavalli woman has stayed true to her sexy seventies style all along. For spring/summer too she’s going to dress like a free spirited vixen, be it with a little more accessory and detailing.
Not only will she be wearing colored velvet flared pants. They’re going to be embroidered from top to bottom too. Patchwork (a mix of floral and animal prints as seen on pants, tops and dresses) is going to be a big theme in her warderobe ass well. Airy maxi dresses and studded leather jackets fit in perfectly as extra fringes, lace up details, studs and ruffles will add to the seventies swing. Beaded jewelry, bee-like glasses, cowboy belts and skinny scarves in the mix. The Cavalli girl has always loved to live life to the max, she’s just turning things up a notch for next summer.

Giorgio Armani Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear FW2016

The afternoon after Leonardo DiCaprio received his first Oscar wearing Armani we all gather at via Bergognone for the Giorgio Armani show. One of the final shows of Milan Fashion Week, but given it’s length a spectacle to stay around for. The 81-year old designer sent out no less than 82 catwalk looks. Seemingly monochrome, yet with sligt touches of pastel if you’d take a closer look. Fringes and flowers seemed to be recurring elements. Floral prints kept popping up throughout the show in small and bigger versions, on dresses, bags, shoes and coats. Still the collection felt sober. Floral printed maxi dresses and embroidered velvet suits breathed Armani’s classic elegance as they passed by. Hair (a springy nest of messy curls atop a double French twist ) and make-up (classic makeup with a nod to the Seventies) appeared flawless. And that finale filled with evening numbers could one by one have had earned a spot on the red carpet at last night’s ceremony.

Missoni Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear FW2016

Spaghetti bolognese, espresso and their fiery temperaments. Oh boy, do we love those Italians. But if we talk fashion, we can’t skip their nation of knitters. Something we seem to forget sometimes, but Angela Missoni will make you remember it in the best way she can. Their idiosyncratic patterns, knittings and use of bold colours make us wish we had some Italian DNA ourselves. Or at least own a beautiful house near the Riva del Garda, with a beautiful patio where we can sip our homemade wines all day long. As perfect as this sounds (we know, working on it), that’s how imperfect this collection was. Not in a bad way, but if you expected anything super matchy-matchy, here’s your sorrynotsorry. Because the many layers of color and pattern in each piece may not match in a classic way, but worked surprisingly well as a total look. Stripes, zigzags and checks on every level and in every way, from oversized cardigans, dresses, tunics and sweaters to chunky beanies and almost floor-sweeping scarves. Towards the end the more eighties and bohemian slim-cut disco dresses and plissé maxi dresses in shimmery black and silver showed they can do more than just drown us with what once made them so famous.

Seventies rock, or Cavalli with a definite touch of Pucci, was Peter Dundas f/w2017 style of choice. His series of beautifully handcrafted looks presented in front of a brocade back drop were the ultimate, richly colored, mix of strong and sensual, feminine and flamboyant. Necklines low, waists high. Sheer maxi dresses paired with fur lined velvet coats. Shiny silk suits worn with skinny lurex scarves. Belted flared jeans and embroidered patchwork capes. A subtle touch of tiger here, some snake skin there; overall animal prints played a subsidiary part to the floral prints and baroque detailing. Italian craftsmanship at it’s best.

Kenzo Catwalk Fashion Show Paris Womenswear SS2016

Leave it up to Carol Lim and Humberto Leon to create a collection filled with young, fresh, catchy designs that appeal to a wide audience. Their travel meets sporty looks had all the right ingredients for the summer wardrobe of a girl on the go. Graphic prints in bold shades of blue, yellow and red proved the designers still know their way around the color palette, making each look poppy and very Kenzo. They popped up on kimono style jackets, skater dresses, miniskirts, cropped tanks, maxi dresses and co-ords. Adding to the collection’s overall happy mood. Mesh body suits added some sexiness to the active attires. The XL gladiator sandals may have been a little too gimmick-y. Yet statement fanny packs, colorful handbags and chandelier earrings (although a slight style difference) made up for that slight misstep in the accessory department.

Chloe Catwalk Fashion Show Paris Womenswear SS2016

What would happen if you mix up western and 90’s grunge-era influences with sporty vibes? Well, you get the Chloe look of spring 2016. It’s like putting together Kate Moss and Courtney Love with the girl from the prairie; sounds like an odd combination, but somehow it works perfectly fine. The result is an interesting mix of its signature bohemian chic hit pieces such as airy maxi dresses -off-shoulder and halter neck-, printed tunics, gladiator sandals, lace details and soft colours, combined with tracksuits, sporting stripes, raw edged denim, harem pants, jogging trousers and tank tops. And did you see all those amazing rainbow colours? The flowy rainbow maxi dress, softly hovering around the models body, was definitely a statement item. Just imagine yourself in this summer stunner(can we skip winter, please?) Designer Claire Waight Keller obviously had a more youthful focus this time, though without completely falling back on the girlish and innocence again. Perhaps she felt it was time for a change and for the Chloe girl to see what’s still intact of her sturdy, grungy side. Well, it seems she’s doing just fine.

Clare Waight Keller went down the hippie / boho route for spring. Yet she did take a less convenient path. Yes there was lace, suede and denim. Indeed she came up with airy maxi dresses, printed tunics and a whole range of gladiator sandals. But still she managed to give her looks a refreshing kind of chicness. The kind of elegance that would make the navy pocket skirts and matching blouse as well as the white lace jacket and shorts suitable for work too. Although we must admit most designs would look their best on and around the beach somewhere. Most of them being the careless cool pieces you’d throw on after a dip in the ocean. Just to go on and head to a casual lunch, a cosy dinner or a long night of dancing. Especially the floor sweeping dresses (hanging from small spaghetti straps) had resort written all over them. As far as that one XL denim washed jogging attire, we’re not sure where to place it, but easy and relaxed must be the key words to this collection.

Alberta Ferretti Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear SS2015

Floor sweeping maxi dresses, pastel shades and embroidered flowers; Alberta Ferretti is sticking to her sweet, soft and feminine signature. Yet, for s/s2015 the Italian designer did manage to appeal to a slightly younger target group. Instead of just perfect, romantic wedding guest proof dresses she dug into the free spirited world of hippies and festivals. In between her series of seventies inspired designs she surprised us with a few denim creations as suede, feathers and countless fringe accents added to the hippie vibe of the collection. White lace, floral embroidered dresses paired with suede waistcoats and fringed gladiator sandals certainly deserve a place at next year’s Coachella. As does a silky pair of shorts combined with a brown shaded braided crop top. And for anyone not attending a wedding or festival Alberta came up with an embroidered nude jumpsuit and a lilac playsuit that will do well as summer chic office attire
