DelPozo Fashion Show New York Womenswear SS2016

With undeniably the dreamiest collection of this week Delpozo had us all on the edges of our seats. With looks that stepped right out of wonderland Josep Font made us forget about Snapchatting our show perspective. This was super sweet pastel perfection. Inspired by Austrian designer Emilie Flöge a.o. the most fresh and modern creations followed up on each other. Mint and metallic appeared to form the loveliest color pair to start with as Font continued to show off his amazing eye for shade combining. With every new look the silhouette changed, showing Font’s skills in playing with volume and texture. And though this all could easily have turned too comic-y the designer not once took it too far. A long striped and belted raffia vest seemed the chicest thing for spring. Ruffles and polka dots (typical Spanish) surprised, seen in a different palette and perspective. And we can endlessly continue our praises.. But let’s just wrap this review up by expressing how cool this fairytale like collection would look on the red carpet. We’d love, no, we need, to see that floor sweeping green and pink number, that white and pink embroidered tule gown and that sequined nude layered dress during upcoming award season. Period.

There’s no woman that doesn’t rely on head-to-toe black (except for Anna Wintour, who hates it). When you’re in hurry, have an important meeting or going on a date, black means you’re never out of style. It’s the colour of mystery and mortality and for many designers, this inky hue is their mainstay. It may not be the most original or daring choice for summer, but it’s definitely elegant. Like Christian Dior said in 1954: “You can wear black at any time. You can wear it at any age. You may wear it for almost any occasion.” So even when the temperatures rise it’s nice to play it safe and not stress about wether your bold summer colours and indie prints match. But sometimes our daily black uniform can use a creative and unexpected upgrade to make an chic and offbeat combo. Which means you can experiment with different fabrics (mesh!), silhouettes and lengths – there’s more than just a black dress- to see what works for you. Have a little fun and experiment, cause the runways are offering you many choices. You may not have an actual runway in front of you, but remember: the street is your runway. Her outfits may keep on changing throughout the day, one thing streetstyle icon Candela Novembre can always be recognized for is her parting. Whether she has long blonde hair (like two seasons ago), a short bob (like past winter) or a ponytail her hair always falls into a perfect parting. Candela barely wears any make-up and usually hides behind her statement designer glasses. Oh and did we mention her impeccable style?
The Argentine model (who moved to Italy at at the age of 17) has a quirky elegant style. “Virgin Suicides meets Blondie”, she refers to it herself. Now she might live in Milan, this lady usually has that typical Parisian ‘Je ne sais quoi’-look on her face. Candela believes “a happy mind and a happy soul are the best fashion accessories”, so spot her in bold prints and bright colors wearing a big smile on her face.
And how could she not be smiling? Good looks and a dream job as the editor of Lampoon, this mother of two has it all. She strolls around in the latest designer pieces, but has a great eye for vintage as well. Whatever look this Milan based beauty is going for, parading through the streets of Milan with her famous friends Chiara F. and Anna della R., Candela never fails to impress. First up was Jazz Kuipers with aggressive male models storming the runway like they were on their way to beat someone up. They were dressed to kill in tough black outfits, leather details, touches of white, matching boots and masks.

Jef Montes made sure everyone was paying attention to his show when his first model busted a balloon full of water on the runway. What followed were structured designs full of drama. Shiny dresses and capes that are simply meant to make great entrances at fancy parties and glamorous galas.
Two rather dark and somber shows to close down fashion week, but epic nevertheless. Young talents we hope to see back next season. See you at AFW fw2016!

Mother Earth is obviously the main topic this Amsterdam Fashion Week. And for Monique Collignon it was time to turn yet another page of her earth prelude this week, revealing chapter two of her Earth Delight story. The catwalk was blocked with an enormous inflatable planet. And what better way to warm up your audience than to press play Michael Jackson, whispering his earth song in your ear (“what have we done to the world”). It led to absolute silence minutes before the lights turned off.
While her show on thursday’s opening night was based on earthy minerals, this one’s based on nature’s four elements: earth, water, fire and wind. The main differences were not so much in the designs itself, but mostly in the use of colour. When talking of nature’s treasures, you can’t skip its beautiful shades. Each element had it’s particular color scheme: Earth (soft pink, beige, green), water (white, blue, green, yellow), fire (red, orange, pink, black) and wind (black and white). Outfits consisted mainly out of dresses in all sorts: knee-lenght, ballet-like, sleeveless, covered with sequins or wrapped around the body. If you’re not a very dressy person, the elegant cinched or strapless jumpsuits might be a good option. Some looks were accessorised with animal printed scarves and clutches. No surprises there for the real Collignon fans (except for the sneakers), but just a rich collection both timeless and modern.
