SS2017 Trend: Fringe Party

Where hippies and Western influences meet, that’s where the fringe party is at. The party of the season, with a line up of big names, from Ralph Lauren to Hermes. And who knew this dresscode could be so diverse. From cool and grungy at Coach to line dance fabulous at Rodarte. Adding some fringes to your look don’t necessarily turn you into a cowgirl (although that Ralph Lauren hat might add to the effect). Just play around with it and use it as an extra asset to your fashion forward look. Like Miuccia Prada did in her SS2017 collection. Her fringe meets fur details gave her looks some extra elegancy and a bit more of a fun factor, whilst staying classy, modern and yet retro inspired. Not feeling the fringe shoulders or hemlines? Just opt for that cute little fringe bag Hermes designed for spring/summer. A subtle yet stunning way to join in on the fringe fun.

SS2017 Trend: Head over (Kitten) Heels

For years and years (decades perhaps) wearing a tiny heel was the least sexy thing a woman could do. I remember having read multiple articles with famous/fashionable women stating that the one fashion No Go they could think of was: wearing shoes with a short (below 2 inches) heel. High heels represented sexiness, power and fearlessness, so who would want to be caught walking on medium length heels? I did and I still do. I may be short, high heels just don’t work for me. They make me walk (stumble) awkwardly and they give me less confidence instead of more. Boy, am I glad times have changed and current shoe trends are possibly the most comfortable they have ever been. I mean sneakers, loafers and kitten heels are all over the cat- and sidewalks. And it’s those fifties style kitten heels that the biggest fashion lovers/unfluencers/social super stars are embracing the most. That J’aDior kitten heel with open ankle might be the it-shoe of the moment (if there ever was any). Besides, Prada, Loewe and Céline are celebrating the comeback of the lower heel too. This summer we can strut around WITH confidence yet WITHOUT painful feet. Comfy yet sexy. How about that high heel lovers?

SS2017 Trend: Good Sport

In line with our previously discussed trend (hoodies) we’d like to focus on a major catwalk trend that is very much related: sportswear inspired ensembles. Now, of course we’ve seen sportswear influences come and go for years. Yet, the sportive touch hasn’t been this present for years. It might have started with sneakers becoming extremely mainstream (and becoming more rule than  exception), but now sportswear inspired items, athleisure if you will, and details like hoodies, jogging pants, branded straps and bands, parkas, large zippers, mesh fabrics, caps (a big streetwear thing at the moment) and cycling pants are taking over. And it’s not just all American sportswear brands like Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger who are focusing on activewear, DKNY, Prada and Versace are being good sports too this season. Not to mention old school brands like Fila, Champion and Kappa all making a major comeback (thank you Vetements). Now you don’t even have to stress about working up a sweat in these looks. You can easily rock a mesh cropped top during a late lunch with your friends and simply forget all about your soul cycling class. Besides, you wouldn’t want any sweat stains on your Carven top, now would you?

SS2017 Catwalk Trend: Spencer spending

Nerdy might just be the new sexy. That is, if we listen to labels like Gucci, Michael Kors and Prada. For SS2017 the spencer has a very seventies look & feel. It’s busy printed in a bright, warm color palette and even worn on top of busy printed and colored blouses. Just take a look at some of the examples. To make it even more library chic Gucci and Michael Kors added silk scarfs as Miuccia Prada let her models sport a turtle neck underneath both blouse and spencer. But before you complete wave away this SS trend, there is still room for some sensuality (as seen at Prada). Cropped and worn with hot pants the spencer isn’t all that nerdy anymore. And a waist belt can work wonders too. Still not convinced? Thanks to the spencer you can wear your favorite summer blouse even on the most chilly spring days. Perhaps you can borrow one from your grandpa. Otherwise you’re in for a serious spencer spending session.

SS2017 Catwalk Trend: Parka Power

We already briefly discussed this trend here, but let’s dig a little deeper into the Parka for SS2017. Cause in line with the overall sporty vibe the Parka popped up at the fashion shows of Versace, Sportmax, Maxmara and Stella McCartney. It fits perfectly with the focus on functionality that fashion is experiencing lately. A loose, comfy all zipped up parka (as seen at Sportmax) to hide in or an unzipped lightweight tech version leaving some room for sensuality and silhouette. Whichever way you’re going to sport the parka just know there are no rules. Bright colors (see Versace color blocking eighties palette) as well as sporty elements (like straps, elastics, hoodies, zippers and buttons) are very much allowed. Power to the parka!

SS2017 Catwalk Trend: Robe Chic

We’ve spent every last Penny on some of the best designer bargains and are officially done with sale shopping. Time to look ahead to what spring/summer has in stores for us. And trust us, it’s going to be an amazing fashion season. We understand you’ll not be parading in next to nude outfits any time soon, so we’re starting our SS2017 trend reports off slowly, with items you could possible already rock and buy while it’s still winter. Our first trend of choice: the luxurious rope.

Vloggers may have been right all along; there’s no shame in robe dressing. On the contrary, major designers have introduced the robe as the chicest thing for the upcoming summer season. Haider Ackermann, Lanvin and Burberry were some of the biggest players in this game of home attire dressing. Their runway looks filled with silky satin, paisley printed, robes in fact appeared highly desirable. Paired with some tough boots and a studded high waisted belt (Burberry) they might even become a hit among youngsters. We can already see these beautifully colored and printed robes matched with some destroyed denim and low cut tops. Or even with some silky pj’s still underneath. Either way, the straight out of bed #ootd was never this on trend.

WOMENSWEAR TREND FW2016: Handy

Sure we love the fact that we’re finally able to rock our faux furs, teddies and lammies. But try cycling the city for a bit in this bloody winter cold! A ride that asks for multiple layers, a scarf, a beanie and a pair of good old gloves. Let’s cover up! A pair of black leather gloves comes in handy and will surely help you through the winter. And why not try a pair of (knitted or faux fur) mittens for a change? Burgundy gloves seem to be a good match with just about any f/w outfit. A pair of fingerless gloves will make sure you’re still able to operate your smartphone. And if these options don’t suit your taste (or you’ve lost one of your gloves like we do all the time) just opt for some ultra long sleeves (another big trend this season) like Linda Tol in our gallery above and you’re good to go.

Fall Winter Trend 2016 / 2017: Cape Town

From bright pink and fluffy to sophisticated suede; it’s cape o’clock! Layer it up like some of our streetstyle heroes or show some leg like Anna dello Russo and Hailey Baldwin. And it’s not just London that’s cape town this winter. This fall/winter item looks equally chic on a Parisienne. Just pick a cape to match your cool. Pink grisley, navajo or little red riding hood? A cosy capelet goes a long way.

Fall Winter Trend 2016 / 2017: Biker Style

Biker chic just arrived at another level. Designers like McQueen, Valentino and Gucci have been experimenting with this wardrobe essential. Altering it’s proportions from girly to oversized and puffy. Patches and studs add even more originality and then think about the thousand ways to wear it! Paired with a black skinny like all the models (at work) or over some culottes like they do in Paris. Wear it over your favorite winter jumper or combine it with a maxi dress. And even on a night out in town the tough yet sexy black leather biker jacket is your best company. Biker style winter 2016.
