Peter Stigter aan de Muur launched!

Today, the Peter Stigter aan de Muur project has launched officially! From now on, it’s possible to get your hands on one of the exclusive prints of Peter Stigter through the website peterstigteraandemuur.nl.

Many fashionista’s, designers and press were present at the opening. Designers like Bas Kosters, Niels Klavers en Jan Taminiau came to take a look at the catwalkart. Piet Paris (fashion-illustrator), Joost van Bellen (dj) and a few employees from Viktor & Rolf had a drink with us too.
Shortly after the exhibition was officially opened,  three pictures were already sold. There will be a Peter Stigter on the wall at the offices of  Elle and Glamour and publishing house Mood for Magazines.
Everyone at the opening seemed really enthusiastic about the project. During the evening we asked some visitors what they really thought of PSOTW. Their reactions were very positive. Below you can read some of them.

’PSOTW is an original and unique concept. We think it’s great to be able to see the picture’s this large. Fashion shows are always very hectic, therefore you never get a chance to take a good look at a design or a model. In this way we can. It’s also great that these pictures go beyond fashion.’

’Through this project you look at fashion photography from another point of view. It is still catwalk photography but you can in no way compare it to the Style.com-culture in which we  quickly skip through pictures of a fashion show online.’

Two more days to go before Peter Stigter’s latest charity-project – Peter Stigter aan de Muur – will be launched in Amsterdam. A glimpse of the interior.

Sjaak Hullekes wins Dutch Fashion Award 2009

Sjaak Hullekes won this years Mercedes Benz Dutch Fashion Award, and received a price of € 25.000,- to extend his brand. Last friday the third edition of the MBDFA took place. After being held in Amsterdam twice, for this edition the Dutch fashionscene was gathered in The Hague.

For these annual award five Dutch designers were chosen by an international jury. Bas Kosters, Iris van Herpen, Mada van Gaans, Sjaak Hullekes en Jeroen van Tuyl were all nominated for their distinctive designer style.

The most important award of the evening is the Mercedes Benz Fashion Award. It goes to the designer who is most likely to succeed on an international level.

On the night of the awards Sjaak showed an enlarged version of his summer collection, called Oscar. Backstage before the show he told Team Peter Stigter: ‘The Fashion Awards are something I look forward to every year. Winning an award on this special night is really a great way to get noticed on a national and international level. It’s a great boost for your label and your career.’

Sjaak thinks he won the award because he distinguishes himself in the use of fabric. ‘I use natural materials, light fabrics like silk or linen. These are materials you usually wouldn’t expect for a menswear collection. My tailoring and the many details I use in my designs are aspects that mark me off as a designer too.’

Apart from his way of designing Sjaak also stands out because of the niche market he designs for. ‘In Holland everything always has to be favoured by the crowd. I’m glad I design for a special group of intelligent, classic, sensitive men unafraid to address their feminine side.’

The money-prize Sjaak won will be invested in his label. ‘We will continue doing what we were doing. We can use the money to maintain the status we reached. We also want to explore the new vision we have on men.’

Sjaak thinks he will be successful in Japan, America, Italy and France. In time he wants to build a strong and independent fashion label. We wish him all the best.

Televizier-gala 2009: the red carpet

This weekend everyone from the Dutch television-industry was gathered at Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam. They were all there for the presentation of the best Dutch television-programme (the Dutch Emmy’s). We spotted the celebrities at the red carpet and asked them which designer’s clothes they were wearing. It appeared most of them chose a dress or suit made by a Dutch designer. Addy van den Krommenacker’s dresses came by most often. He and Edwin Oudshoorn designed the ‘winning dresses’ worn by Lieke van Lexmond (Winner Talent Award) and Yvonne Jaspers (Winner Best Female Presenter). Other celebrities rocked the red carpet in outfits from Daryl van Wouw, Jos van Raak, Monique Collignon and Django Steenbakker. Some cute short dresses from Matthew Williamson and Balmain spiced it all up. Overall most guests showed some great (Dutch) style. (Tess van Daelen)

Heineken The City

The unofficial start of AIFW was last saturday when 20 selected talents showed their creations at Heineken The City fashion design contest. Winner was Marielle van der Gouw, a shoe designer who based her winning hand-printed dress on a crushed beer-can. The white dress with colorful graphics looked very feminine yet streetwise. The other designers were inspired by the color, stars and graphics.

Peter Stigter just revealed his latest project Peter Stigter aan de muur, an online photo gallery which will be launched in november this year. Peter opened up his archive of thousands of fashion pictures and put his favorites in a photo gallery. The photo’s are printed in a very small limited edition and profits will be donated to projects helping the blind and visually disabled. The website peterstigteraandemuur.nl will be launched november 12th at Fashion Mania in Amsterdam. A blog will inform about the work in progress starting by the end of august.Keep an eye on this site, Dutch magazines and  newspapers. To be continued…

Peter Stigter & Glamour

As we announced before Peter Stigter is joining an exhibition of Glamour during the Arnhem Mode Biennale, entitled Celebrate Shape. The magazine invited their best photographers to send in their view on Shape. You didn’t go yet? Hurry, it closes july 6th. Location: Coberco Melkfabrieken, Nieuwe Kade 1, Arnhem.

Back to the future: CKFree

Outside the venue of Calvin Klein in Milan we spotted a group of gorgeous looking guys in a black Mustang convertible. The picture took us back to the future. Actually the car stars in CK’s new adcampaign for the men’s fragrance CKFree. It’s one of those young, fresh, upbeat fragrances we know so well of Calvin Klein.

Jil Sander Catwalk Fashion Show 2010

Thanks to a very kind PR-assistant at the door we made it into Jil Sander last minute. It was – as always – worth trying. Very plain, very sober and very white! White shirts at navy trousers dominated the collection and Raf Simons just added a small silver outline to shirts or cut the frontparts of jackets different which gave the models – together with their bowlcut hair – a neat and nerdy look. The portraits by Japanese artist Foujita gave it a more arty edge.

Dolce & Gabbana Catwalk Fashion Show ss2010

When you cut the prices of your collections by almost 20 percent like Dolce & Gabbana did, you still have to make it worth buying. But their new summercollection is something we already know: smokings mixed with jeans and cotton trousers, destroyed and bleached jeans, black and white suits, a T-shirt with a portrait of a style-icon (Marlon Brando). The only new idea – and odd – were the silk pyjamas that lined some destroyed jeans. Who’s ging to wear that? We liked the thin, black silk shirts.
