Streetstyle Icon: Leandra Medine

Ever since she first appeared in the international fashion scene Leandra Medine has been the most obstinate blogger out of the bunch. On a daily base she updates her blog The Man Repeller with a vibrant mix of style reports and personal anecdotes. The latest fashion trends and updates can be found there too, but don’t expect anything too serious. Leandra likes a humorous approach, which we can clearly see in her quirky streetstyle looks.
Leandra doesn’t wear designer clothes just to look pretty and show off. She likes to communicate her vision on fashion as well. Therefore she’s not your average blogger model, although she has been the face of Uniqlo and Vero Moda. She even walked a Rebecca Minkoff fashion show. All brands who appreciate Leandra’s quirkiness, just as much as her followers and visitors do.
As if her blog and social media channels aren’t enough for her to let people hear her voice the brunette blogger even wrote her first book; Seeking Love, Finding Overalls. Fun to read, like you’d expect from her. Just as fun as her Style.com video’s are in which she tackles fashion dilemma’s as well as certain do’s and don’ts while rocking the latest designer looks.
Original, quirky outfits which always have the power to draw your attention to them. Like a Tory Burch tule skirt matched with an oversized Philip Lim turtle neck. Or a pair of super flared Tibi jeans. Leandra has an eye for detail too. She parades in Chanel clogs, Prada turbans and Balenciaga belts. Her looks are chic and fashion forward, yet she doesn’t take herself too seriously. Plus, she doesn’t care if she looks hot (for men; Man Repeller) or not, she just wear what she likes and we love her for that.
Trend Report SS2015: Mismatch

No rhyme or reason at the runways of Dsquared, Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood. So it seems.. Their S/S outfits formed an polychrome mix of materials, colors and silhouettes. Fashion pieces purposely mismatched creating head turning ensembles. Perhaps a new way for designers like Rodarte, Marc Jacobs and Marni to achieve originality in a fashion world which repeats itself so often. Or an answer, possibly, to the sobriety and minimalism we’ve seen around for so long. Whatever the reason, streetstyle influencers are making it rhyme. Rocking busy printed shirts and eclectic skirts with outstanding sneakers, jaw dropping handbags and eye catching sunnies. No color too bright, no texture too structured, no silhouette too bold. More is more in this mismatch mania.

The days mesh fabrics solely belonged to the sportswear department are over. For ss2015 it has been popping up in every kind of dress code. Giving the perforated technical material a seductive and sleek appearance (Altuzarra, Versace, McCartney). Creating a special structured and colored look when worn over demure tops on one hand (Westwood). Yet adding sexiness when cheekily revealing skin (Balenciaga). A playful game of light and shadow, cover up and expose, giving evening wear a surprising, flirtatious touch. That’s meshed up!
Trend Report SS2015 menswear: Pinkness
We know, we know; pink menswear clothing isn’t all that fashion forward anymore. Yet this time around designers (Dsquared, Louis Vuitton, Zegna) did opt for a super vibrant, fuchsia kind of summer version. It made overalls, short jackets and accessories stand out even more and gave the male models an extra bronze and sporty look. Slightly different was the (subtler kind of) pink vibe at Rick Owens, Thom Browne and Kenzo. Combining pastels is still a huge SS trend, making a menswear look appear softer, yet (combined with blue like at Etro) never less masculine. Whether head to toe in pink (Versace) is your thing or just a pop of color (Dsquared) is more up your alley; this shade makes the ultimate wardrobe color addition. The fellas will look so sharp in pink, they’ll make the ladies blush..
Model Focus: Gigi Hadid
She’s half Dutch, so obviously we’re fans. Yet it’s not just us Dutchies that admire Gigi Hadid. The cool kid is taking the fashion world by storm, popping up at the biggest fashion shows, campaigns and major magazine shoots. She has her mother’s modeling genes and her father’s exotic touch, so she’s truly an outstanding beauty. But her success factor has a lot to do with her clique as well. Gigi hangs out with the coolest kids in the industry. She parties with A-listers like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson and Kendall Jenner; the blonde it-girl knows how to get noticed. Whether she’s being photographed in a Chanel two piece for Vogue or rocking a bright colored bikini for Sports Illustrated, Gigi is the ultimate model babe. All camera’s pointed at her. This star keeps on rising.

‘Valentino red’ is bound to be the color on everyone’s mind this summer. En masse designers let the color of passion tell their SS2015-story. Not that they only spoke of love… No, those bright red looks talked about coolness (Acne), sensuality (Balmain), art (Comme des Garcons) and youth (Louis Vuitton) as well. The passionate little red riding hoods on the streets were all about femininity though, just as DKNY and Dolce & Gabbana. Red sunglasses, red bag, red shoes and red lips to top it all off. Red hot just got even hotter.

Rocking some shiny, sparkling clothes during daytime, like we’ve done the last couple of years, can be the coolest thing, nothing new about that. Yet designers are taking the disco theme up a notch, presenting the shiniest, sexiest pieces to rock the dance floor (sip some cocktails and lounge about) till early morning. Daring (Tom Ford), revealing (Roberto Cavalli), powerful (Tommy Hilfiger), edgy (Saint Laurent) or elegant (Dries ven Noten), but most of all show stealing and jaw dropping. Making a grande club-entrance won’t be too difficult in these metallic designs, now let’s see about those dance moves…
Trend Report SS2015: Patch(work) it up

Denim might never ever get out of style. Yet if it’s up to the big fashion houses we need to patch(work) it up a bit. Originality is key and with just some ripped jeans you’re not making the cut. Mixing everyday denim with more outspoken materials like patent leather (Burberry) or giving it a full on embroidery treatment (Dolce & Gabbana) will get you noticed. While a patchwork of different denim shades adds to that unique yet casual effect. On the streets the reworked denim look might have been even more alive than on the catwalk. Proof of the fabric’s versatility and the fact that we all have some (denim) blue blood.

Who would have thought the jumpsuit could have so many different looks? This season the onepiece is either boxy or elegant and is given some new features. Large buttons at Victoria Beckham and Céline. Sheerness at Sonia Rykiel and Dior. Strapless at Emilio Pucci and Versus. Add a small scarf (Ralph Lauren) or a little belt (Céline) and you’re good to go. Super elegant with a peeptoe sandal, but often sported with some sneakers out on the streets. A fashion forward uniform that saves a lot of outfit-picking time in the morning!
