The forth day of Amsterdam Fashion Week kicked off with two ‘quickies’; Alla Kuzmyk and Jose Francisco Ramos both presented their small collections during a LAB show.

Then on to Alla Kuzmyk’s womenswear collection ‘Groteske Glamour’. The Rietveld & AMFI graduate presented nine dramatic romantic womenswear looks. All designed from the same idea (our currents relations towards prescribed drugs and food and what this does to our bodies) yet in a different color palette. Models with futuristic hair wore pants, tops and a series of dresses in remarkable shapes and sizes. Hand dyed colors and humps and bumps on shoulders and backs. Every look was covered in prints with patterns derived from miroscopical views on viruses. Faded shades of red, blue, yellow and grey worked beautifully together in this cohesive, striking collection.

No Dutch designs on the third night of the Amsterdam Fashion Week; tonight we celebrated Pakistan fashion. Six different designers from Pakistan presented their best work during a big show. Six creators all with their unique style and very different from one another.
Faiza Samee kicked of with a tasteful airy collection full of vibrant colors, stripes and multiple variations of gorgeous prints. Designs were loose fitting and typical Eastern, yet still wearable enough buy viagra for any Dutch woman.
Second in row was Sonya Battla with her asymmetric collection, which formed a nice mix of warm colors (fuchsia, red, purple, turquoise) and embroidered gold and glitter.
Then came Adnan Pardesy with a much heavier series of designs, with knitted parts and rich colors. A clear contrast was visible in these creations, especially in a long thin purple dress, combined with a heavy cardigan.
Up next: modern music and the Lolita collection by Durreshahwar. A series of leggings and tunics with beautiful prints like paisley, roses and eastern nature. Designs were very sheer and a little racy as the models’ underwear was visible from underneath some fully printed designs.
Then the music got even louder and the audience went a little crazy as Leisure Club presented their work. Designs with a way more Western touch, especially when it concerned the fit. Bright colors and prints here too, plus a few pieces with Arabic writing on them to accentuate the brand’s origin.
Honey Waqar closed the Pakistan spectacle with her over the top luxurious couture creations. Dresses made out of the richest materials, velvet and gold, glitters and embroideries, roses everywhere, statement hat pieces and bird cages instead of handbags. A true fairytale closure to this, indeed, vibrant fashion show.

As usual Kim Feenstra opened the Tony Cohen fashion show tonight. With her strong walk and fierce gaze (plus extra long hair) she showed off Tony’s new signature for SS2014 in which a cleaner line was visible. Long, lean models sported loose, sharply cut canadian non prescription viagra designs. Asymmetrical dresses, flared pants and layered tops popped up in countless variations. Knitwear and ultra thin leather were put in the mix, as well as a thick fur-like material, used for oversize kaftan-like dresses. Besides a focus on the shoulders (through capes and one shouldered veils) Tony put a lot of detail in the back too, adding long fringes, laces and airy pieces of fabrics to a lot of bare backs. As the soundtrack played “Welcome to my world” we indeed were arrived in a full on Tony Cohen world. The show ended with a dramatic finale of black and white floor sweeping dresses. Judging from the reactions in the audience (women everywhere sighing and screaming “I like, I like”) this collection will be a big hit, commercially.

Another big Fashion LAB show today. Nata Ryzh let us buy viagra online cheap us think about everything around us, let us question whether everything is really what it seems and thus let us use our imagination. Her collection ‘shambala’, inspired by a mythical kingdom, was all about comfort and happiness. Feminine models with frizzy curls sported kaftan-like tunics and color coordinated headbands. Beautiful kaleidoscopic prints (from images of every day objects) and loose fits gave the easygoing collection a seventies vibe. Chunky accessories in black and white matched the models’ shiny shoes. Everything just worked together perfectly and when the models did their little hip dance at the end we knew for sure we’d love to go on a journey to shambala, ‘cause it sure seems like one happy place.

Two catwalk shows on the same day is something most designers would stress out about. But not Tony Cohen. This designer knows the drill and is always right on schedule with his collections. This afternoon he started off with his 2LoveTonyCohen show. A show with plenty of looks for the confident modern woman. Looks with a 24/7 mentality; to go from the office to a dinner with friends and perhaps even do a little dance later at night. For SS2014 Tony added some new touches to his signature looks, like XL zippers, metallic parts, washed out denim and richly embroidered details. A kaleidoscopic print looked surprising, as did a long leather fringed jacket. Loose fitting outfits were given his familiar two or three- tones treatment, with different shades of green, purple, pink and mint. Everything had a careless feeling to it, this being accentuated by the long haired models walking with their hands in their pockets. There’s a comfortable, versatile summer season 2Love ahead!

Rebecca Ward
This afternoon Rebecca Ward surprised us with her collection Parasomnia; a place between dreams and reality. When the loud bass echoed through the room and small lights shined up on us; we indeed arrived in a different world. A world located in the ephemeral moment between being asleep and awake, where models walking in slow motion appeared one by one. They sported elegant creations decorated by floral prints and tiny ruffles (which came back in the details of the shoes too). Rigid leathers beautifully combined with sheer pieces; accentuating the contrast in Rebecca’s inspiration. Balloon shaped elegant dresses and tough cut out leather pants kind of clashed too, yet eventually worked very well together.

Claes Iversen once again blue the Amsterdam Fashion Week audience away with his beautifully crafted feminine designs. This time fringes formed the central theme in his pastel colored summer collection. After the show opened with a big yellow raincoat, a white dress and two suits they slowly started appearing on tops, parts of dresses and skirts. Like in many of his collections Claes was able to perfectly build up the tension, letting the fringe detailing of his creations add up with every look. Leopard prints, metallics and fringes made out of thousands of beads formed the ultimate mix for his ladylike looks. They combined different shades in one look, ranging from sand and turquoise to pink and silver. The final model appearing on stage truly was the queen of fringes as she wore a floor sweeping fringed gown including a matching beaded headpiece. Lots of great splendid dress option here for Claes’ loyal Dutch clients, who were, of course, all present tonight.

We have to miss Bas Kosters’ spectacle fashion shows this season, but tonight’s MaryMe-JimmyPaul collection was a nice surprising alternative. The designers presented an interactive show as the closing act of this Amsterdam Fashion Week opening night. Sponsored by Vodafone so phones were included in the interactive part. The audience was able to live vote for the looks while they were going down the runway. Doll-like dressed up models with pastel shades wigs and heavy make-up playfully walked the catwalk. They were dressed to the extreme sporting high heels, knee high boots, printed suits and spectacular fluffy/fur-like dresses and tops. With every look the outfits became more colorful, platform shoes got higher and the audience wilder. After the last look; the most hated and most loved models re-appeared. The finale for sure put a smile on everyone’s face when ‘ the designers’ were brought on stage and turned out to be two very tanned, strong bodybuilders in bikini. Bas Kosters too gave his sign of approval by enthusiastically applauding from the front row. What a spectacle; Amsterdam Fashion Week is officially started now!

No doubt about it; Spijkers en Spijkers took us straight to summer 2014 with their vibrant beach-y collection. From a background of moving waves young models with messy beach hair followed each other in the (what seemed like a) never ending show. Playful skirts, loose blouses, wide dresses and high waisted pants brought us on a trip to the French Riviera. Girls looked sweet and cheerful, like a young Brigitte Bardot (when she was still a brunette), yet never too sexy for the SIS brand. They sported stripes and checks in classic shades of red, white and blue. Small belts and beaded necklaces added a colorful touch, while floral prints and bright organza fabrics revived the show towards the end. Forget hot summer destinations like Ibiza and Mykonos, next year Côte d’Azur it is!
Trend Report SS2013: Opposites Attract

This season it’s all about material mixing. Of course we were already wearing shear tops with heavy skirts. Yet this time around single fashion pieces exist of a mix of fabrics. After seeing leather accents such as collars, cuffs and pockets for a few seasons it’s all about transparency this summer. Think cotton tops with sheer silky parts, satin skirts with transparent hemlines or dresses with see through mid riffs. Not cut-outs but body parts just subtly covered by a fine layer, adding some seductiveness to the look. While Viktor & Rolf created a clash with their metallic fabric, Paul Smith showed some contrast by using lace, Jason Wu opted for leather and Dolce & Gabbana blew everyone away with their use of cork. Other labels such as Blumarine, Céline, Gucci, Stella McCartney, Chloé and Chanel showed multiple variations of sheerness, sexy, tough and sportive. Looking seductive was never this chic.
