Hunkemöller Catwalk Fashion Show Amsterdam

On the last evening of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week lingerielabel Hunkemöller held a show named ‘It’s a women’s world and we love it’ in the Zuiveringshal at the Westergasterrein. For it’s brand new collection Hunkemöller was inspired by Hollywoodstars of the thirties and forties, like Marlene Dietrich, Josephine Baker.

Models with daring pink wigs (which had been cut and steamed for hours backstage) walked the runway in the most diverse lingerie looks.

We saw bras, strings and high waisted knickers in nudes, orange, green, purple, petrol, deep blue and black. Combined with lace, strass-details, bows, feathers and garters they made up for a very feminine and sexy look.

The collection was divided into four separate themes; Hollywood Glamour, Hot Cognac, Excentric Luxury and Mysterious Black, each with it’s own inspiration, colors and style. All looks were finished off by eye catching jewelry and accessories.

During the grande finale a model (the contemporary muse of Hunkemoller) wearing a brown slip dress, a shoulder- and an enormous head piece appeared on the runway. She stood on top of some stairs as all models walked their final round on the catwalk.

A great show. Adele’s Rolling in the Deep is still in our heads…

Actually, it was a great collection of Hunkemöller. Classic with a twist, beautiful colors and a good styling. Backstage you could see the models had big fun and felt sensual yet strong in the lingerie. The bright red wigs added a punch to the whole performance.

The Best of All goodiebags – Amsterdam Fashion Week

January 30, 2011 by
Filed under Amsterdam, Fashion, Featured Items, Goodiebags

The goodiebags we received this week were not very impressive, most of them were rather disappointing! We did receive better bags during earlier editions of AIFW. This time  there were a lot of spam items and the real goodies were lacking.

Apart from the Velour goodiebag and the Hunkemöller box we simple couldn’t give any goodiebag a high rate (too bad we didn’t get a goodiebag, or even een preview – at Supertrash this time).

To show you what a real goodiebag could look like, we gathered the best items of this Amsterdam Fashion Week in one ideal goodiebag.

It contains:

– Stylish toothbrush from Jordan

– Bodywash

– Hunkemoller garter

– Glasses from Bas Kosters

– Lounge music

– a bottle of water

– Rituals tea

– Vouchers of Hunkemoller ( 30 euro) and Specsavers/Spijkers & Spijkers (50 euro)

– T-shirt Velour

– Hand lotion Aveda

– Maybelline 24h lipstick

– Opi nailpolish

– Eyeshadow

But we dream of perfume, fashionable jewelry, a nice scarf, skincare-samples, champagne, perfumed candles ….

Elsien Gringhuis Catwalk Fashion Show FW2011

Elsien Gringhuis took her inspiration for her fall winter 2011 collection from the Dutch countryside, with it’s endless view, clear fields and lots of wind. She called her collection ‘One of these days’, after a Pink Floyd song. Giving away a bit of the ominous feeling this seeming fresh collection has.

For her 18 different looks Elsien used natural materials (no wonder she won the Green Fashion Competition!)  like hand painted silk, bamboo and wool and opted for colors like black, white, green and (light) blue.

For this new collection she focused more on the wearability of her designs. She also developed her way of pattern making. ‘I challenge myself trying to use the minimal amount of parts for my patterns, maybe one or two’, Elsien said. ‘I also tried to give the collection more of an airy feeling then I did with other collection.’

We thought the collection felt very minimalistic with it’s clean cuts and it’s plain colors. The silhouette looked refreshing and elegant and we loved the long jackets and jumpsuits.

Backstage at Elsien Gringhuis people were gasping at the shoes of designer Rosanne Bergsma, the futuristic looking wedges in white an metal matched perfect with the collection of Gringhuis.  As did the straight hair and make-up with focus at the eyebrow.

It was a small salon-show of Elsien Gringhuis, but worth visiting. And after a rough party-nigt downtown the real fashionpro’s and -lovers showed up to watch the show.
