Catwalk Trend Fall Winter 2018: Vivid Prints

Vivid & vibrant, that’s how we like our prints these days. Lead by the colorful examples of Balmain, Marni and Versace we can say our winter worries have never felt this far away. Futuristic (galaxy vibes at Balmain), nature inspired (red roses at McCartney, butterflies at McQueen, XL flowers at Valentino), household related (spoons and porcelain plates Dolce & Gabbana) or Art Deco (colorful heads at Marni). Any busy print will work and keep anyone you encounter busy (unraveling the details) of dizzy (just from looking at it). Head to toe prints work very well for the holidays and prints on prints are still a look. Have fun with it and be the prints charming in any room of any X-mas party you attend.

Catwalk Trend Fall Winter 2018: Skirt + Sweater

We’ve talked about it before. Skirts and sweaters remain a most popular combination. Pleated skirts and cable knit sweaters, but also floor sweeping tule skirts and fleece hoodies (Burberry). In fact we’ve seen so many variations to the classic combination anything goes really. We prefer the sweaters, blouses and knits as chunky as possible. But if you like your tops a bit more tight (H&M), that’s a good look too. Mix and match your way into this trend and twirl your way through winter!

Catwalk Trend Fall Winter 2018: Small Bags

A returning trend, season after season: small bags! For fall/winter they came in the shape of tiny handbags (Altuzarra), necklace-inspired (Emporio Armani, Giambattista Valli), attached to belts (Emilio Pucci) and Dolce & Gabbana even had them on a drone flying around their show venue. Whether leather (Loewe), fake leather (Stella McCartney), Velvet (Dolce & Gabbana) or fur (Chanel); a teeny tiny handbag is your go to accessory for winter. Who needs jewelry when you can have this type of bag on you all night. And, bonus, you might even be able to fit something more than a 50 cent coin into it!

Streetwear Trend Fall Winter 2018: Puffer Up!

The @itsmaysmemes coats are all over our Instagram this week and we can’t help but feel inspired. These puffers aren’t as impressive in size, but they sure make up for some statement streetwear looks. Keeping warm in a camouflage printed puffer, a pink metallic one or a turquoise number worn with a waist belt. And prepare yourself for some scaling up. Next season you’ll be like Kylie, Rihana or Haily dwarfed by a pair of xl puffers. Bearing the cold was never this easy. Giant jackets are the new wave.

Proof that cinched waists aren’t for girls only! Agnes B, Walter van Beirendonck and Alexander McQueen all sent out their male models wearing waist belts over their jackets and jackets. Whether long and wool, short and pillow-y, quilted or with leather parts. No outfits gone to waist. A little play with the silhouette works for all sexes.

Fall Winter Trend 2018: Shine Bright

So we have a shopping confession to make. As December is creeping up on us we´re experiencing a slight shift in our shopping habbits. As the days get darker our shopping baskets become brighter, shinier.. lit! We´re buying glitter leggings and socks, metallic skirts, sparkling tops and sequined dresses inspired by catwalk images of Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Isabel Marant and Off-White. To make sure we´ll shine bright at any upcoming (pre) X-mas party but also to give a little extra spark to any random day of the week. Life´s too short to wear boring socks anyway.

Catwalk Trend Fall Winter 2018: Corduroy Craze

We wrote about it last year, when all of a sudden corduroy was a big theme in many catwalk shows. Now, one year later there’s no denying this trend. All high street stores are packed with corduroy pieces. From dusty pink dresses to camel colored jackets and army shaded oversized shirt dresses. Perhaps you’re inspired by old images of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg wearing matching corduroy or Diane Keaton and Woody Allen getting their cord game on. You might have seen Dustin Hoffman looking smashing in his cord blazer (another classic). Maybe it’s last years runway images that got you cord love going. Or you were just blown away by Kendall rocking those high waisted corduroy pants and Alexa Chung sporting that seventies style cord skirt. Either way it’s about time you joined in on the fun of this fabric. The fashion students at AMFI show you how it´s done. Be a good sport wear something cord!

Beauty Trend Fall/Winter 2018: Nude Lips

While some beauty looks were true pieces (we discussed some of them earlier on) of art this fall season, others were more subtle. Especially when it comes to the lips make-up artists stayed very close to the models actual color. Not a lot of brown shaded, deep burgundy red lips, but different shades of light pink and a whole lot of nude lips. We selected our favorites from our backstage archives at Ackermann, Akris, Altuzarra, Balmain, Lavin, Marni and Sportmax. Eyes might have been a little wild(er) in term of color and shiny, sparkling metalic touches, but the lips remained o-so-natural.

Whether it’s checks, words, camo, florals or faces (!); a good printed coat can make your whole look. And yes guys, you can rock a short but winter proof leopard printed jacket too. Wear your checks on checks this season and match your coat with cool streetstyle classics like a beanie and a fresh pair of chunky kicks. Trench, bomber, toggle or robe style; be the prints charming anywhere you go.

Menswear Trend FW2018: All Wrapped Up

Even big guys get cold and so many menswear labels are going for the layered look. No matter how tall, strong or tough you are, you need to wrap up to bear winter temperatures. And it turns out a heavy coat is just not enough. Men need extra layers of body warmers (Bidjan, Sunnei), thick scarves and puffer boots – don’t get cold feet now!- (Thom Browne), beanies (RaeBurn) and head wraps (Margiela). Rolling straight from sofa to streetwalk, while still covered up in your fav blanket (as seen at Marni) is even allowed when temperatures drop. Winter is here, make sure you’re well prepped!
