Kenzo Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Paris SS2017

Starting off with cool camoflauge prints and little safari co-ords Kenzo’s SS2017 line up soon evolved into more funky dresscodes. Like a patent leather skirt worn with a ruffled blouse and a metallic top. Or a skirt and oversized Tee both which had images of Kenzo back in the (Studio 54, just check out this clip) days printed on them. Yet the best chapter of the show started with a parade of shiny disco dresses full of beads and sequins. Studio 54 dressing on fleek. If only we’d still be able to relive some of those marvellous disco dancing nights. But will surely find other occasion to wear that pink dress with handwritten prints and sparkling top to. It deserves a place in the spotlights that’s for sure. Same goes for those chunky earpieces…wow! Carol Lim and Humberto Leon sure found a way to overcome the H&M hype (their collaboration collection is hitting stores next month). This collection of 54 looks will have both fashion critics and Kenzo customers going wild (like Jerry Hall and Pat Cleveland on that stage).

Chanel Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Paris SS2017

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at Chanel? Yes, of course there’s a workspace filled with dedicated seamstresses, we saw so in the Signé Chanel documentary. But did you know that behind this there’s another layer? It’s the digital headquarters of Chanel. Silicon valley does fashion. Today Karl Lagerfeld gave a glimpse inside this technologic Walhalla where system operator dress in the cutest tweed suits and colourful wires make up for the perfect backdrop. Two Chanel robots opened the show filled with cool kids. Models wearing disco colored ensembles, their caps sideways, medallion necklaces and one statement earring in. Lace underwear details on display. An eighties vibe with an intimate touch. That’s some computer system we’d love to hack into.

Stella McCartney Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Paris SS2017

What better way to start off your SS2017 collection presentation than with a dance off? Stella McCartney did just that and let her models whoop, holler and shimmy all over her runway. Refreshing and the ultimate proof that McCartney’s clothes are made to actually move in. Roomy pants, crispy oversized shirts and loose printed T-shirts. Continuing some Milan Fashion week trends the belt bag and raincoat/parka added to McCartney’s focus on practical fashion. Outer space sunglasses, chunky earrings and a handful of necklaces kept the fresh faced models cool. Blankets tossed around their shoulders. And though everything seemed super comfy and wearable, those heels – Stella McCartney paired with a chic all black ensemble – appeared rather wobbly. Yet she did do an excellent dressing job with her husband Alasdhair Willis, who was rocking a slick double-breasted jacket and trousers from her upcoming menswear collection while sitting front row.

Alexander McQueen Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Paris SS2017

Dutchie Jessie Bloemendaal led the model parade at Alexander McQueen this morning. All girls had their hair slit back as if their heads were shaved. Statement chokers and chunky earpieces accompanied their rather folkloric looks. Creations inspired by a trip to the Shetland Isles, which Sarah Burton and her designteam made earlier this year. The wildlife they witnessed there led to light weighted dresses (ruffled all over, with mutton sleeves and lace details) matched with leather belts and bodices. Look 10, a colourful knitted patchwork ensemble , looked particularly folkloric and was followed up by a series of McQueen’s signature tartan attires. A handful of suits as a contrast to the heavily embroidered flower dresses that were added later on in the collection. The finale of beautifully crafted (including wildlife embroideries), floor sweeping and most delicate dresses looked breathtaking and must have kept Sarah and her team occupied all some. While most of us hardly come up with a photo album of a recent trip Sarah turns her memories into dream dresses. What a way to elaborate on your latest trip.

Givenchy Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Paris SS2017

The Jardin des Plantes formed as Givenchy backdrop today. That’s right, we were all seated outside, in the open air. Silver blankets were handed out to the front row as Riccardo Tisci sent out his girls. “Women are fighting for power, not only in America, but everywhere in the world. So I wanted to do something more sensual and more powerful, and for me, that’s tied to nature”, he stated. And so his army of sensual and tough women came out dressed in body hugging clothes with the most vibrant palette of red, orange, brown and pink. Looks had an eastern, sixties (hence the dots, stripes, dress length, collars and pixie (resembling) hairdos) kind of feel to them. All though long flared sleeves and cropped flared pants kept things in the now. A couple of all black suits seemed like the most versatile pieces of the show. The rest of Tisci’s graphic printed, asymmetric dresses probably fit best during a night of disco dancing.

Valentino Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Paris SS2017

After succeeding sir Valentino Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli did a wonderful design job at the luxurious Italian fashion house for years. So when news reached us that Chiuri would leave Valentino for Dior we were all a little worried. Would the Valentino fairytale the designduo had been writing for so many seasons all of a sudden be over?
Turns out it didn’t. Pierpaolo Piccioli made sure his first solo collection for the brand was beautiful and commercially smart. In a new show area, Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild, his solo story inspired by medieval art unraveled. Away from the countless maxi dresses of previous collections Piccoli presented a fair amount of daywear. Red brocade velvet pants paired with a crispy white shirt and the tiniest cross body bag you’d ever seen. A patent leather (Valentino)red coat worn over an airy burgundy jumpsuit. A pink layered sweater tossed over another white shirt and loose brocade pink trousers. And let’s not forget to mention that highly admirable trenchcoat inspired cape combined with a pair of royal pants embroidered with patterns of birds and fantasy vegetation. It seems like Piccioli is giving us more dresscode options for SS2017. Which means more reasons to incorporate Valentino into our daily leaves. A smart strategic move for the brand and who could not love that idea?

Balenciaga Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Paris SS2017

Oversized, strong shoulder outfits and bare faced models welcomed us at Balenciaga today. Powerdressing with some intensely colored spandex underneath. The kind of dressing consumers will not immediately jump onto. Silhouettes and materials to get used to before becoming totally obsessed with them. Well, for SS2017 Demna Gvasalia planted that seed. Oversize floral dresses, body warmers, some jump- and playsuits boxy tops, tight stretchy leggings and a patent rain coat together formed an odd summer wardrobe, fashion professionals are already drooling over. And might you thing a bag with the looks of a puff might never end up on your summer wish list. Just wait it out and we’ll talk again in six months or so.
