Winde Rienstra SS2014 Amsterdam Fashion Week

At Winde Rienstra we were all hanging on the edges of our seats, scared one of the models might take a tumble. Even with the help of the male seaters, who accompanied them and held their hands almost till the end of the runway. That’s how high and uncomfortable the shoes were. They were pretty though, made out of see through crystal-like platforms with touches of blue and green and straps with small wooden balls. Yet without focusing too much on the footwear there were outstanding clothing pieces as well, inspired by abandoned Russian country homes. As a male voice slowly spoke endless lines in Dutch and Russian creations made out of wood and felt very slowly followed each other on the runway. A lot of black felt with white lining, pink degrade and some floral prints were in the mix. Small bags were tossed around the models’ shoulders, blue dots were the accents on a series of looks and golden studs were the detailing on belts and shoulders. The last outfit, a tiny body piece with cut-outs shown by the only model who walked on her bare feet, was completely covered in studs. A Forgotten Path; interesting collection… food for thought.

Allan Vos SS2014 Amsterdam Fashion Week

It was his trip to Japan that inspired designer Allan Vos for his spring/summer show. He added some Middle East touches to his costume inspired, slightly feminine looks. No trends here, Allan designed exactly what he likes. For this collection he took things to the next level by using external seamstresses and by letting certain fabrics being printed elsewhere, so he stated in his opening video. He sent out beefy, tanned male models wearing tight shorts, cheapest viagra to buy online in uk striped pants, sheer body tight sweaters and slightly feminine inspired jackets. Kimono-like tops tied together around the models waists were Allan’s most obvious Japan reference. Other outstanding pieces were a pair of extremely wide gold/yellow pleated pants and a graphical printed black and white legging. Extra attention was paid to the collars of the tops and the accessories (like bold sneakers and wooden sunglasses) of the looks. The final outfit was a pair of briefs and a jacket, which the guy really pulled off. Yet these models would have looked good in just about anything…

Celebrity stylist Danie Bles made her Amsterdam Fashion Week debut as a designer today by showing her ByDanie collection. No spring/summer like most brands, but her fall/winter and a special party collection, some might have already seen. Barbie dolls dressed up in ByDanie tops filled the front row before Danie’s guests took place. Some special guests among them, like famous Dutch TV-hosts Lieke van Lexmond and Yolanthe Sneijder-Cabau. Danie treated them canadameds.com to a full on show spectacle which started off white a backstage video. Then a live band took over playing the latest hits while dancing along with the sexy marching ByDanie models. Inspired by it-girls Danie and her team dressed the models up in items like studded leather pants, leopard printed cardigans, sequined dresses and shiny jumpsuits. All styled to the max (Danies specialty) with watches, mirrored sunglasses, beanies, fur waistcoats and high heels with a touch of gold. Nieuw Jurk SS2014 Amsterdam Fashion Week

A fashion show presented by Dutch porn star Bobbi Eden? We knew we were in for a treat at this one. Groaning sounds when we entered the rooms, porn magazines and condoms in the goodiebags on our chair.. and the show had not approved viagra even started yet! It turned out it was not really about the clothes; Nieuw Jurk just held a cheerful little porn party for the fashion minded. With models wearing colorful wigs, the highest platform shoes, fur boots & necklaces, candy underwear and latex accessories there was little focus on the actual designs. Yet there were tees, leggings, shorts, jackets and pants covered with symbols of smileys and tongues, and words like SEX, NEW JERK and FUCK BUDDY. After a latex umbrella kind of pink creation the designer herself came on carrying a pink playtoy in her hands and the party was complete. The audience went wild, though some journalists looked a little flabbergasted.

Scuba-diving and the underwaterworld, both prints and materials inspired Francisco van Benthum for his collection ‘Marlin’. Not too literal though. He presented looks to manipulate the silhouet. Series of certain fashion pieces, like the menswear shirt shown in five different ways (as a blouson, jacket, statement buy online viagra shirt and even a coat). Other clothes showed the ability of “morphing”, like an oversized pair of pleated pants that can be worn in many different ways. Materials were comfortable and summer proof. Neopreen, the ultimate scuba fabric, was used as more of a jersey for several sportive coats. Black and white prints popped up alternated with an outerspace-like blue and purple version that really brought some of the black, grey and green looks to live. Lots of Van Benthum fans in the room, so there’s no doubt this collection will do well.

Melissa Siegrist’s boys were all ready to hop on the baseball field, or at least look pretty on the sideline. They sported striped and uni colored shorts, baseball jackets and shirts worn underneath T-shirts. Everything had a fifties vintage touch, inspired by legends like Joe DiMaggio and Babe Ruth. Designs, made out of linen and cotton looked effortless and comfortable. Nothing too crazy, never trying too hard; this was just a beautifully made, perfectly fitting menswear collection.  Plus, the live trumpet player and DJ made Melissa’s forth AFW show into a fun, inspirational Monday afternoon event.
