Catwalk & Streetwear Trend Spring/Summer 2019: Printed Maxi Dresses

From strolling on the boulevard to cocktail sipping at the bar; a solid maxi dress can take you from day to night during the summer season. A look that never goes out of style. Dolce & Gabbana, Erdem, McQueen and Valentino know so too. Preferably floral printed, yet we love a good hint of exotic fruits as well. Not to mention a classic polka dot, a bold and graphic print or some fake snake skin print. Pair with some white booties or open shoes and you’re all set. Effortless, elegant, evergreen.

Summer Streetwear Trend 2017: A whole lotta dress

Just about anything Alessandro Michele has sent out on his Gucci runway has become a hit in the last few years. The loafers, the nerdy glasses, the pleated skirts, the bow tie blouses and the berets. Next it-item introduced by the Gucci God is the costume dress. Of course many of the clothes from his latest show appeared to be coming straight off of a theater’s styling rack, but these dresses overruled everything. First time we took a good look at them they even seemed too dressed up, costume-y, perhaps a little ridiculous? Yet, as it goes with fashion, give a fresh idea a month or six and we’re all head over heals with it. So it was only a matter of time before we were all craving these over the top dresses. And now we don’t even know how we ever survived without them. Clicking through our gallery above you must admit these highly comfortable dresses are the most effortless way of going all out. A showstopper look guaranteed and you can still eat, drink, walk and do a little fashion dance. So there you go, a maxi ruffled dress up on your wishlist. And don’t be shy. Opt for color, print and a little extra sum sum while you’re at it. More is more in Michele’s world.

Silvian Heach Catwalk Fashion Show AFW Studio 2019

A life band awaited us at Silvian Heach tonight. The four girls from the band Luminize, who appeared in The Voice of Holland, were set at the end of the runway, dressed in signature pieces from the new collection. A collection that turned out to be casual and sporty, effortless and comfy. Ruffled skirts and plain tees, white jeans and slogan T-shirts, cropped bomber jackets and oversized hoodies, all in black and white. Then it was time for prints and color. Floral printed dresses, polka dot co-ords and suits with retro prints. A silk printed robe-inspired suit looked extremely elegant. Then a denim chapter enrolled. A pinafore dress, lots of jeans and blouses and a patchwork denim shirt had that easy going feeling about them. The show ended girly and sweet with a series of pastel colored looks. A striped midi dress with a giant ruffled collar. A fuchsia sweater paired with a purple skirt. A lilac maxi dress and last but not least a denim jacket covered in colored sequins worn with a shiny, matching pair of sequin short. Good vibes, nice tunes and an impressive line-up of fresh Heach clothing. Another vibrant show by the Italian label.

Dries van Noten Catwalk Fashion Show Paris Womenswear SS2019

Fresh, grown up, colourful, sophisticated; just a few words to describe what happened at Dries van Noten on Wednesday. His collection for SS2019 was enthusiastically received by the fashion critics, mainly because of the Belgium designer’s focus on his own target group. Dries van Noten isn’t trying to aim at a younger audience (millennials) like most of the big brands nowadays. He is just staying true to his own signature and the costumer he has always had in mind; intelligent 30+ women with good taste. For next summer he imagined those women rocking loose pants, comfy dresses worn over midi skirts, overalls and sleeveless jackets. Like you’d expect from Dries van Noten the color palette with shades of yellow, blue, khaki and turquoise combined with black and white was exquisite. The silhouette/fit super comfy, with utility touches (large, multiple pockets) here and there. Floral prints, striped patterns (even on the shoes) and touches of fur added an extra fun factor. A lott of fabric was used on some of the folded/tied designs, like the blue maxi dress Rebecca Leigh Longendyke sported. A lot of fabric in the looks in general. Dries van Noten isn’t one to state the obvious sexy. When it comes to his well dressed clientele sexiness can be in the smallest details, like an off shoulder top, a sheer dress or an ankle in one of his perfect open summer shoes.

Dolce & Gabbana Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear SS2019

The Dolce & Gabbana show on Sunday was about OK-ness. Which lead to the most diverse Dolce & Gabbana show to date. They casted catwalk icons like Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova and Marpessa. Monica Bellucci and Carla Bruni walked the runway. The designers did quite some street casting too hiring people from all ages, gender, sizes, skin tone and sexual preferences (lesbian girls walking hand in hand, grandmothers and grand daughters side by side). They were all smiling and very much in a celebratory mood. And who wouldn’t start smiling by the looks of these people in these clothes? Fashion wise it was a true Dolce & Gabbana collection. With jacquard suits, printed (we spotted one farm animal printed dress, lots of floral prints and cathalic references too) maxi dresses and tight little black lace dresses. It was as over the top as always with lots of volume, lots of accessories and a lottt of looks (total of 153). It wasn’t so much a show about new styles or trends. The Dolce & Gabbana shows have been portraying more or less the same style variantions for seasons now. Domenico and Stefano wanted to deliver there message of love. They wanted to show everyone matters and – more importantly – everyone can wear Dolce & Gabbana and look like a star.

Alberta Ferretti Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear SS2019

There’s certainly been blowing a fresh wind through the Alberta Ferretti workspace. Within a few season the Italian label has been changing things up a bit aiming at a younger audience. And so overalls and oversized denim inter played with the delicacy Ferretti is known for for 35 years. Like the statement, oversized overall Kaia Gerber sported with just the right touch of lace popping up from underneath the sleeves and neck. Or the shiny silk top Kendall Jenner paired with some roomy shorts. Stiff denim vs ruffled lace. Kaki vs pastel shades. Maxi dresses vs boxy blazers. A show filled with contradictions, a collection that was perfectly balanced out. A new Alberta Ferretti show walked by all of today’s it-girls. Question is: will they wear these pieces when they’re not on the runway? Is the SS2019 collection model off duty proof? Does it appeal to today’s cool kids? And what does the future look like for Alberta Ferretti and her signature style?

Silvian Heach Amsterdam Fashion Week SS2019

Tigers were walking the red lit walls of the show venue at Italian label Silvian Heach this afternoon. The same tigers that formed a print on a red suit, the opening look of the show. A statement piece and a highly desirable look as well. A look that set the mood for a large collection filled with wearable, feminine pieces. Silvian Heach is gaining popularity as well as sales points in the Netherlands and we can see why that’s working out.

The brand seems particularly good at designing suits and maxi dresses. Suits in different types of prints, but made in a variation of velvet shaded and sparkling as well. The dresses were all pretty conservative (lots of fabric) yet super feminine and came in all kinds of floral and animalistic prints.

The tiger print popped up a few more times and in between all suits and maxi dresses we spotted some appealing statement items, like a gold colored puffer, a velvet kimono, an off white fur coat. In the mix with leather skirts, plain dresses (cinched by the waist by a branded strap, OffWhite style), bowtie blouses, elegant, pleated skirts, chunky sweaters and sock boots. Enough said. Just click through out gallery and you be the judge.

Trend Report FW2018: Long & Lean

Brands like Jil Sander and Valentino have been preaching this look for seasons, yet now it’s the look for fall. Long and lean silhouettes are popping up everywhere. Midi dresses worn over flared pants (Valentino) or body tight maxi dresses (Victoria Beckham). A trick to make the whole look appear even longer and leaner? Add a skinny scarf, wear it around your neck and toss it over your shoulder. Instant coolness and extra (optical) inches. Another one: wear everything in one color (as seen at Valentino) for an extra chique, fresh and minimal appeal.
