It’s officially Summer in the City! Short skirts, off shoulders tops, leather sandals and the sunniest sunnies are all you need this week. And when it comes to the latter, there’s lots of options to choose from. From teeny tiny to XL deluxe. And while every Instagram queen seems to be rocking a pair of white colored eye cat sunnies we spotted a different trend out on the streets. That of the colored glasses. Yellow, orange or red, let’s give the world a touch of color and make the city look even sunnier than it already is. Are you wearing your vintage Ray Bans, your floral encrusted Dolce & Gabbanas or perhaps a brand new sparkly pair of Gucci sunglasses? Sun’s out, sunnies out! Have a good one!

Summer officially starts within a week. You can see and feel it in everything; nature’s buzzing, festivals are popping up, Nike running sessions all over and the gym and yoga classes are overbooked (of course we do our exercises too. Promise!). But if you haven’t yet started with building your ultimate summer wardrobe, why not start now? Beach ready or not, the streets are craving for some new season fashion highlights too. Your shades may not be the starting point, but consider them to be the cherry on the cake. Picking the right pair is as significant a style marker as finding you the right pair of shoes for your first date. And maybe even more important: no summertime Instagram photo feels complete without a striking pair of sunglasses to get that double-tap from your followers. So choose wisely when it comes to size, colour and fit. Oh, and before we forget: leave your modestness at home, it’s gonna be a bold and quirky SS15.

1. Keeping it fresh on hot summer days – Classic white frames

2. Saturdays’ hangover – Oversized, yes please!

3. Feeling your Dutch roots – Orange fever

4. Cultural weekend break – Powerful frames

5. Late summer nights – Ombre-effect

6. Aviator attitude – Hot child in the city

7.  Bold red – Why only a red lip when you also have red sunglasses?

They’re the icing on the cake of a standout look. They’re you’re go to accessory after a short night of sleep. They’re another way of expressing your sense of style (or humor). And they come in such great variations this summer! Mirrored (as seen at Alberta Ferretti), see through (Miu Miu), embellished (Prada), aviator-shaped (Dior) and butterfly-inspired (Fendi, Just Cavalli, Dsquared). The options are innumerable and, in fact, apart from this season’s trends any shape or size is perfectly fashionable as long as it matches your face and complements your outfit. To get you fully inspired for the upcoming hot summer months (or for your holiday destination) we’ve created a BIG inspiration gallery full of head turning sunnies. Sunny side up!

Wintertrend 2011 for him: sunglasses

Sunglasses: not the first thing you would think of when making your wardrobe winter proof. But you might reconsider after seeing these pictures. Because the great designers showed us that a good pair of sunglasses in the winter is not such a bad idea after all. Plus it raises your cool-factor for sure. Definitely the ones we’ve seen this season.

Like Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabanna, who showed us ultra cool shades in bright candy colors, gifted with their familiar touch of Italian elegance. But most popular this season are for sure the circle shades, that seem to take us back to the time John Lennon wore those famous round shaped glasses. Or what to think of an updated version of the maybe not so ‘cool’, but definitely mysterious ‘Sherlock Holmes’ shades. Not so bad of a style statement…

Trends ss2010: sunglasses

When it comes to sunglasses every possible shape, size and color was presented on the runway.

We saw a crazy pair at the Ungaro fashion show which had diamonds all over the glasses. At Alexander Wang they were very pointy. At Hussein Chalayan they were pentagonal. In the Moschino show a few pairs had the shape of a flower.

Karl Lagerfeld put guitars on the side of his glasses. At Jenden they had all kinds of sparkling colorful rocks on the frame. And Louis Vuitton made them look like diving-glasses.
If there was a trend to be recognized among all those sunglasses it might be the one of the small circular Beatle glasses. They were there at the fashion shows of Erdem, Carolina Herrera, House of Holland, Iceberg and Schwab.

Another variant that stood out were the sunglasses with the pointy Fifties-inspired sides, which give someone the angry schoolteacher’s look. Jenny Packham, Rochas, Sonia Rykiel, Alexander Wang and Giles had them in their fashion show.

So, no specific look stood out for SS2010. Yet it might be time for the Beatle-glasses to return.
