Sportmax embraced the country life for fall, incorporating rugged and Western elements as well as pretty wildflowers with artful elegance. It was a great collection of outerwear and knits that exuded soft femininity with a graceful rustic edge, all of it perfectly wearable.
The dominant coat silhouette was a gentle wrap in black and camel double cashmere trimmed with raw blanket stitching and tied with a corded leather belt that created a gentle hourglass shape. Chunky Aran knits came as off-shoulder dresses and tops with exaggerated fold-over collars and fringed hems. There was an easy, vaguely Eastern feel to the asymmetrical cuts, particularly with the oversize floral prints of anemones and chrysanthemums silhouetted in black against white backgrounds on easy color-blocked dresses and wrap tops and skirts, again with corded details.

While Max Mara was nice, but not necessarily mind blowing, it’s little sister Sportmax was impressive with a collection full of XL check prints and culottes. The designs felt young as crop tops, hands in the pockets, hair pulled back and bare faces made it look modern. Models sported strapless dresses, belted kimono tops, checked pencil skirts with matching jackets and furry/fringed sweaters. All in a sophisticated color palette of blacks and whites, olive green and a bright touch of orange. Work attires, relax outfits and quite a few party numbers; for upcoming summer Sportmax is bound to appeal to a wide range of female customers.

Sportmax aspired to a more loose silhouette for ss2014. The concept had a sartorial base with languid silhouettes that demonstrated ample ease and a soft palette, from faded pinks and yellows to stark whites.

For surface detail, the design team often worked a buy viagra super active dot theme, which came in many variations: marking a pink camisole pajama, woven into a mesh shift, exaggerated on the sides of a dress.

The Sportmax-collection was about proportion, transparency and texture. And example was the first outfit that entered the catwalk: a beaver coat, its fur cut grid-like in front, with a black, tuxedo-like lapel and suede back. Other tops had more volume, sometimes with rounded cocoon shoulders and graphic datials like blue eel skin stripes. The big knit sweaters felt cozy.  Often, the pleats of skirts and dresses served as a way to mix fabric and leather. The effect was cool and sophisticated.

The ss2013 collection of Sportmax had an icy, modernist gloss . The main reference seemed contemporary architecture, and it was made visible  in clean lines, controlled volumes and a flash of hardware.

The show opened with boxy leather bombers and lean, sleeveless coats with zippers, colors were gleaming white or  green. Grid patterns, like windows on a skyscraper, were embroidered onto organza shift dresses, which were chic and managed to avoid the Space Age vibe. There were also split-hem skirts, sporty ribbed knits some of which coated in stripes and easy to wear shift dresses.
Simple and minimalistic were the slouchy trousers narrowed by zippers and the chunky knits and sweatshirts with bold, colorful stripes. Modern were the  leather pieces at the end of the show in laser-cut houndstooth motifs. It gave a cool, graphic effect.

An old skool hip hop mix of Busta Rhymes tunes and Missy Eliot raps awaited us at Sportmax this afternoon. An up beat vibe to emphasis the youthfulness of this sporty collection.

Structured looks made out of technical materials breathed an urban style. 3D materials created a beautiful graphic silhouette, while zipper details and athletic lines accentuated the sporty touch.

Quiltd Nylon, padded embroideries and techno-matelasse might not be the most feminine materials for a womenswear collection. Yet thanks to the use of micro sequins, metallic snaps and decorative jacquards the looks were still graceful and classy.

With sport details being a huge trend this collection will be a definite hit. Especially the deep purple designs, introduced at the end of the show, are bound to be the best selling pieces for upcoming fall.

The Sportmax fashion show on the second day of Milan Fashion Week had something in it for every woman. The many outfits represented looks that were chic, sharp and sexy. Or like the show notes said ‘A new elegance inspired by the petite parisienne of ‘Les demoiselles de Rochefort’.

The bright colors and playful dresses from that specific sixties movie were indeed visible throughout the whole collection. Lemon yellow, red, magenta and white being the main shades, alternated by several denim looks.

There was a lot of variation in fabric and shape. Patent leather coats and blouse collars were mixed with romantic lace-like fabrics, organza and crepe de chine. The dresses were A-line shaped as well as body-tight (with cutouts) and always ended above the knee.

On several transparent dresses and tops small butterflies were attached. They looked graceful and perfect for summer, yet also reminded us of the Claes Iversen collection we saw three weeks ago in Holland. The Dutch designer had butterflies all over his dresses as well. So that might just be the next big fashion trend…

The show ended with some sequined looks and a few designs with colorful graphic prints. It was not the most cohesive Sportmax collection we’ve seen, but there’s no doubt the modern woman won’t find anything she likes for upcoming summer.
