Kingpins Show Amsterdam October 2017

The international denim tradefair Kingpins Show has landed in Amsterdam and turned the Westerpark indigo blue. Tuesday the two days fair kicked off with a lecture program Transformers, Women in the Indigo Universe. Yesterday was filled with business, seminars, meetings and the afterparty was a nice closure of a busy day.

For two days Amsterdam was the homebase of The Kingpins Show, an invitation-only, boutique denim sourcing show featuring a highly-edited selection of vendors that include denim and sportswear fabric mills. The trade show acquired cult like status amongst denim professionals over the years. Kingpins grew into a platform a with biannual editions in New York and Hong Kong. Kingpins is part of Amsterdam Denim Days.

Streetwear Amsterdam Denim Days Kingpins Show

All denim-lovers and -addicts are gathered in Amsterdam these days. Amsterdam has turned blue during the Amsterdam Denim Days. The Kingpins Show was the first in a series of events and shows.And of course we spotted all shades of blue.

The trade show acquired cult like status amongst denim professionals over the years. Kingpins grew into a platform a with biannual editions in New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. Kingpins is part of Amsterdam Denim Days. At the afterparty the official opening of Denim City was part of the event.

This was KINGPINS Amsterdam, october 2014.

For the second time Amsterdam was the capital of denim, by hosting The Kingpins Show. Kingpins started out in 2004 as a tiny denim supply chain show for denim pro’s tired of the mad scramble and soul-deadening crush of handshakes and “who are you’s?” and badge-checking at the huge, impersonal sourcing shows that dominate the industry.
The idea was: keep the exhibitor-list tight, invite only the best brands, serve tasty food, treat everyone like family and create an atmosphere that’s conducive for networking and relationship-building. It worked out pretty well.

The second edition in Amsterdam was a success. Also because of the first Global Denim Awards, won by Jonathan Christopher.
