Take a good look around at any international fashion week and you’ll see the Dutch are everywhere. There’s not a show without Dutch models walking in it. Also, no collection presentation is complete without some Dutch editors in the audience. To top it off more and more Dutch bloggers are going abroad to attend shows and to be captured by the growing number of streetstyle photogs.

We had a blast shooting all the ‘Dutchies’ in the streets of Milan, Paris and New York. Especially the bloggers were a joy to look at and immediately became the main target of the fashion paparazzi.

In the gallery below you can take a look at the trendy editors, bloggers and models from the Netherlands. You’ll spot our top models Saskia de Brauw and Daphne Groeneveld. You’ll see the editors from ELLE, Glamour, NRC and Het Parool. Plus, you can check the looks of bloggers Linda & Niels, Sabrina and Yara.

Backdrop of Viktor & Rolf made by fashion illustrator Piet Paris

October 3, 2010 by

For the spring/summer fashion show of Viktor & Rolf fashion illustrator Piet Paris created a wonderful backdrop. The colorful and fashionable illustration looked fantastic and everyone really seemed to love it.

Viktor & Rolf approached Piet Paris, who was their teacher in art school before, for this project, because they love his work. They gave him a short briefing and let Piet Paris fill in the rest of the picture.

So far Piet Paris has worked for big international clients like Vogue, Harpers Bazar, W Magazine and Saks Fifth Avenue. And we think it’s absolutely great that he and Viktor & Rolf worked together on this. It once again proves how much talent we have in the Netherlands.

On 14 October Piet Paris will launch his own book, which will cover his best illustrations from the past twenty years. On that same day he will present a stamp he designed. Backstage at Viktor & Rolf Piet Paris said: ‘I started this year by designing my own small stamp and it’s funny that it seems like it ends with an enormous backdrop of 18 by 6 meters.’

Dutch Models – New Face: Melissa Tammerijn

April 9, 2010 by

She just popped up out of nowhere and is planning to stay around for a while. Dutch model Melissa Tammerijn (19) from Delft started off as a runway model last season (fall/winter 2010). And lucky for her she already got to walk in big shows like Marni, Balenciaga, Viktor & Rolf and Sonia Rykiel. Besides, Melissa was booked exclusive for the Calvin Klein fashion show, in which she walked next to accomplished models like Stella Tennant and Kirsty Hume.

With her bright blond hair and her strong face Melissa is often compared to Uma Thurman. And she might just become as well-known as the blond actress.

Recently Style.com, as well as, Models.com named Melissa as one of the Ten New Faces from last season. Last year Patricia van der Vliet and Mirte Maas were in that top ten, so the Dutch models are going strong.

Melissa is taking her career very serious and has already moved to London. Let’s hope we’ll hear a lot more from this dazzling Dutch beauty in the future!

Dutch models: Lara Stone

December 22, 2009 by

One of the Dutch Models that is internationally moving towards the top is Lara Stone. The daughter of a Dutch mother and a British father is doing well in the modelling industry. Ever since she signed with modelling agency IMG in 2006 she’s really breaking through.

For spring/summer 2010 we saw her in shows of Givenchy, Chanel, Miu Miu, Hermes and Prada. Yet she’s also doing well in photo shoots. The French Vogue payed a tribute to the Dutch model in their February issue of this year and The British Vogue recently named her Girl Of The Year. Stone appears in big photo shoots in major international fashion magazines, as if she was born for the modelling business.

Every big fashion brand wants her in their show or campaign. And although Lara Stone didn’t walk in the Louis Vuitton fashion show, she will feature in the SS2010 ad campaign of the brand. In this position she will follow up Madonna, who was the LV face for 2009.

It seems Stone will be one of the future super models. Will she be the next Kate Moss or Claudia Schiffer? Anyway, we’re very proud she is Dutch. :-D
